When I woke up the next morning, Dan was sound asleep. The swat members made themselfs at home by finding rooms to sleep in. Our group was knocked out on the living room floor. I stretched out my limbs, then limped into the kitchen to see if any food was left over from the previous owners to make breakfast with.
While searching, I heard a loud creaking sound come from upstairs. Slowly and carefully I made my way through the living room over to the railing of stairs. Step by step, I inched up the steep stairway.
"Hello?" I called out.
I received no answer, and the creaking seemed to stop. I stopped halfway up the stairs, hoping to hear the wood creak again.
Blood piercing screams echoed throughout the house, my ears rung with the sound of horror that was awaiting upstairs. I limped as fast as I could to see what was going on, following the screams into a childs room.
It was painted a baby blue, it had a beautiful white crib that was now covered in blood. Baby toys laid all of the floor as something crawled around them.
"Hey? Are you okay?" I asked out kneeling down towards the baby.
When it heard my voice, it stopped moving for a few seconds. Then its head turned 180 degrees backwards to look at me. He had fangs, they were have the size of pencils, blood poured from his mouth and dripped onto the floor.
I slowly got back up onto my two feet, and in the corner I noticed two swat team members lying there dead.
This wasnt an ordinary zombie, could they be revolving?
I moved backwards towards the door, every step was valuable, if I made a mistake, it could kill me.
Surprisingly, the creature didnt notice me. It looked straight at me but I seemed invisable to it, until I moved towards the door rapidly.
The movement triggered the 'zombie' to see me, it hissed out an evil sound as it crawled creepily over towards me. This baby had unbelievable crawling powers! It could crawl faster than I could even run!
I made my way to the door and went to go slam it, but a toy blocked the doorway making it harder for me to close it all the way. I hurridly grabbed the toy and threw it back into the room, the creature grabbed ahold of my hand as I slammed the door shut. I accidently slammed it onto the creatures arm, the one that was grabbing ahold of mine.
I breathed heavily in and out as I pryed off the detached arm. His arm was so tiny, his little hand held his five little cubby baby fingers, his fingernails were also half the size of pencils which only made the baby seem creepier.
"Holy shit? Are you okay?" Mason asked as he finally made his way up the stairs to help me out.
"Yep. I'm fine." I answered holding up the babys arm for him to notice.
"That doesnt look like a regular zombie hand?" Mason questioned.
I looked back at it, examining every detail of the arm. Maybe my theory did add up. The zombies are evolving.
"I have never seen a zombie that looked like this baby." I realized outloud.
"Baby?"
I shook my head and hung it low, that baby didnt really get to live a long life. You could tell he just started to crawl when the disease took over his body and killed him.
We should investigate this, I mean what if theres more weaknesses to the zombies? Or we could find a cure?
"Maybe we should grab the swat teams gear and some rope and get in there to tie this thing up to investigate it?" My thoughts said outloud.
"Are you crazy? A zombies a zombie." He stated as he pulled out his hammer from the woods, the same one I used to knock his memory clean. He then opened the door that the baby was located in.
He had already lost interest in me and was crawling around in the middle of the room with only one arm.
The door creaked open and the baby threw its head back at us.
"Dont move." I whispered out to Mason.
The fangs began to chatter as he staired evily in our direction. By the look of its eyes, you could tell he was blind.
It roared out a high pitched scream as it crawled over towards the dead swat team members in the corner. He took his only arm and began swatting at the heads, dismembering them.
When it had its back towards us, Mason snuck up behind it and dug the hammer deep into its skull.
It sat there for a few minutes before he turned towards us, "Run!" Mason screamed as he bolted for the door.
I however knew the zombie baby was blind, if you stood still he wouldnt be able to see you.
It chased after Mason, clawing him with the only arm he had left, before Mason slammed the door shut and locked it, with me still inside.
