It seemed like we were walking for hours before I finally reconized the woodsy area where my group was stationed in. My face lit up like a christmas tree as I bolted down the path. Dan tried as hard as he could to keep up at my pace, but it was no use. I was so much faster than him, due to the fact of how I might be able to see my second family again. Especially Paul, since he was like an older brother to me.
Slowing down, my eyes caught a glimpse of a hoard of zombies near their camp.
"Shit." I mumbled, I turned to face Dan but instead, was greeted with one of those nasty female monster. Her hands were extended out, grasping at the air while her bloody brown teeth chattered against each other. Wanting to somehow take a bite out of my flesh. I didn't notice any visable flesh wounds on the lady, causing her to turn into a walking killing machine. I realized that she was getting close, I acted fast by kicking her in the stomach with all of the strength I had left, as it fell backwards I took out my butcher knife and stabbed it in the head several times. I wasn't going to take any chances. Dan approached us as I dug my knife into its head one last time. I took out the bloody knife and wiped it clean with my plaid shirt.
"Are you okay?" Dan asked nervously as he looked down at the zombie I brutally murdered.
"I'm perfectly fine" I answered truthfully.
I pointed over towards the hoard that were almost at the campsite that my loved ones sat at. I gestered my hand in a motion that said 'Follow me, but keep quiet.'
I then sprinted down the path, I needed to get to the site before the monsters attacked everyone.
"Megan?" A familiar voice questioned me.
I suddendly stopped to turn around. Seeing Paul at the side of the path with fire wood for the group made me the happiest person alive.
I attacked Paul with a hug, making him drop all of his wood. He chuckled, but eventually hugged me back.
"How are you? We thought you either ran off or didnt make it." He announced sadly.
"It hasn't been the same without you. I dont have my quiet little ol' Megan to talk to. It has been so lonely."
Dan soon approached us, his breaths were short and scratchy. He looked super fit when we first met, but honestly hes as cute and cuddly as a teddy bear.
"Dan?" Paul questioned. Dans head jerked up to the sound of his voice being called out.
"Paul? What the hell man!" Dan shot back angrily. "Do you even know what happened to mom and dad? They were bitten after you left the house! First dad, then he brutally attacked mom! I was the one who had to put them both down! You're my older brother! You were suppose to protect me!"
Things got silent, and you could feel the tention beginning to spread from Dans words.
I walked over to Dan and wrapped my arms around his waist. He brutally forced me off of him, then stormed over to Paul.
"Got nothing to say for once?" Dan rudely pointed a finger in his face. "I'm surprised your even alive."
Pauls face was now as white as a ghost. His hands were shakey and you could tell he was sweating up a storm. Looking over Dans shoulder at me, his eyes asked for help.
"Dan, come on. Ease your tone. Talk it out later. Remember the hoard?" I grabbed gently onto his forearm, bringing his hand back down to his side.
"You're right. I'll relax."
As he said those words, the tension in his arms began to soften as he relaxed.
"How do you guys know each other?" Paul asked to contain the awkwardness that just occurred.
Dan and I exchanged a couple of looks.
"Long story." I announced.
