I laughed before answering her question, "Dan just sounded cooler and they both start with a D."
She looked at me weirdly for a minute, squinting those lovely blue eyes at me.
"It sounded cooler?" She responded with a little giggle.
A giggle? She never giggled, giggling was such a girl thing and Megan was not a 'complete' girl.
That sounds weird? Well she looks like a girl and everything but she acts like a badass, or like a guy when it comes to zombies or sports. I remember in elementary school at recess while the girls played 'pole tag' she would play sports with the boys. I never picked her to be on my team, but boy did I regret it afterwards. They kicked our asses all thanks to Megan. She was fast, and when we played football it came in handy. She would run to the touchdown line quicker than any of my teammates could to catch the ball and score a touchdown.
I regret the stupid decision of picking on her. Come to think of it, she seemed like a happy young girl just trying to fit in and I made it hard for her to do just that.
She didnt deserve that at all.
"Dan?" Megan questioned.
"Mm? Sorry I was just thinking." I awkwardly chuckled afterwards.
"About?"
I sighed loudly before I inched closer to her in bed. I layed down next to her and grabbed her hand and intertwined it with mine.
"I didnt mean too."
She smiled a little before she nodded her head.
God she must hate me. That was a dick move, but at least I told her the truth rather than her finding out later on and hating me even more for what I had done to her.
"Thanks for telling me straight up. It must have been hard for you to do that." She smirked as if she was reading my mind.
I rolled my eyes before playfully punching her, she gave me the puppy dog eyes while she rubbed her tiny arm where I punched her.
"Did I really hurt you?" I teased.
She shook her head yes before a tear ran down her cheek.
"Oh my god! I'm so sorry Megan!" I took her arm to kiss it better but she shoved me off of the bed and onto the floor of the treefort.
Emily and Jess came flying through the sheet door to see if we were alright.
Jess gave us a weird look as Emily litterally facepalmed as she walked out of the room slowly.
"Are you two okay?" Jess asked as she pointed her finger between the both of us.
I stood up slowly as I reassured Jessica that
I was okay.
"I'm alright, my ass hurts though." I stated as I gave Megan a dirty look.
She laughed a bit as she shrugged her shoulders indicating that she had 'no idea what I was talking about.'
Jess gave us a look before she rolled her eyes and stepped out of the room.
"Shes just jealous." I joked as I laid back in bed with Megan and pulled her in closer.
She started to cuddle back, but after a while she backed away from me.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
She nodded her head, then looked out the window that was near the bed.
I heard her gasp and she jolted out of bed.
What was wrong?
I looked out of the window and my eyes widened as I saw what was out there.
I quickly jumped out of bed and grabbed a jacket before stepping out of the room.
"Wait what?" Emily asked as Megan tried to explain what we saw outside.
"Just everyone needs to be quiet and not make a sound. Alright? Dont. Move."
As soon as she said that, you could hear the creature outside the front door of the fort.
"Stay quiet everyone." Megan repeated as she quietly sat on the couch. I sat beside her while Emily and Jess sat next to me.
The others were in the backroom being silent.
"Megan?" Emily whispered out.
The creature then ran into the room. Looking around in all sorts of directions.
Bad timing Emily.
