Emily? Really why are you calling my name now.
I gave her a look that meant 'shut up.' And I just hoped that she got the message.
The creature started to crawl around the room before entering the room that Dan and I slept in.
"Megan, is that a wendigo?" Emily asked softly.
I shook my head yes. The same one that killed amerie back at that one house we stayed at.
But this one looked older and seemed to be more vicious.
He entered back into our room and headed towards the window. He hung upside down on the wall and looked up, looking straight up at us.
His glowing, glossed over, white eyes pierced into mine. I felt a sudden urge to move, to cause the wendigo to attack me. I tried looking away, but his eyes just made me want to look deeper into them. I dont remember this happening when I saw the baby wendigo?
Dan slowly placed his hand over mine and sqeezed it, bringing me back to reality. I closed my eyes tight and made sure not to open them.
"Megan, its gone." I heard after what felt like hours of sitting there.
"How long has it been?" I asked as I opened my eyes and slouched back on the couch.
"Uh, I dont know maybe like fifteen to twenty minutes." Emily answered my question.
"Its totally gone, right?"
Dan nodded his head, "yeah it left through the window."
I sighed out with relief as Mason came out of his room.
"I need some supplies, wanna tag along Meg?"
I gave him a weird look.
"Dont call me Meg." I rolled my eyes.
He raised his hands up in defeat, "oh no, alright man."
Dan laughed a bit and I elbowed him in the side.
"So, are you in? Or not?" Mason asked.
"Sure, just let me get ready."
He nodded his head as I walked into my room and grabbed my bag.
I started to pack when Dan came into the room.
"I dont think its a good idea for you to go out there." He pronounced without hesitation.
"What?" I chuckled. "Why?"
"Uhm," he slowly wrapped an arm around my shoulders and continued. "I dont want anything happening to you."
"Dont worry, I'll be fine." I smiled as I finished up packing my backpack and threw it onto my back.
I kissed his cheek and walked out of the room with him by my side.
"Just be careful, alright?" He seemed worried.
"Lay off your leg too, doesnt it hurt still?" He smirked.
Looking down at my legs I sighed.
"I'll be fine." I tried to reassure him.
He wasnt buying it but he let me go anyways.
Mason climbed down the ladder first and I followed.
"We'll head north first until we find something, alright?" Mason demanded.
"Yes sir." I announced with attitude in my voice.
"Dont get an attitude with me hunny." He said steernly.
"Just because your boytoy didnt want you to go doesnt mean yo-"
"He's not my boytoy."
He laughed and snorted in the middle of it, "really?" He asked.
I shook my head yes but he kept on laughing.
"Sh." I whispered over to him. "Did you hear that?"
He scrunched up his face confussed, before the sound of twigs snapped again behind us.
"Watch out!" Mason tried screaming out but the way he said it only made his voice deeper.
I darted over to the left as the zombie fell to its knees besides me.
Taking my knife I stabbed it quickly in the head.
"Theres more where that came from." He pointed out behind me.
"Shit, lets get out of here and to the store!" I cried out.
****
I have never ran so quickly in my life, and I have been on a track team before the world went to shit.
"You're okay, right?" Mason asked as his hand landed on top of my hunched over back.
I nodded my head as several zombies started to pound their decayed hands and arms on the stores doors.
"What do you even need?" I asked as he jetted off through the isles and picked up a bunch of random items.
I rolled my eyes as I followed him, grabbing anything that I might need later on in the future.
Water bottles, lighters, some cheese-itz that were probably stale by now, ceral which should also be stale, some more pocket knifes and for myself I grabbed a crossbow and a handful of arrows.
"You almost ready?" I asked.
No response.
"Mason?"
Nothing but groans answered me back.
I quickly loaded the crossbow and quietly made my way to the backroom where I heard a few noises.
I turned around a corner and almost shot at a random civilian.
"Woah there pretty lady, not dead." He chuckled as he lifted his hands into the air.
"Wheres Mason." I asked.
"Who?" He responded with a grin.
"Obviously you kn-" I started but another guy put a gun to the back of my.
"I think shes talking about that one boy. The one we locked in the freezer. You guys boyfriend and girlfriend? Cuz you two look nothing alike."
I lowered my crossbow to point at the floor.
"No, hes just a friend."
