Chapter 3

I woke up to the farmiliar sound of my alarm clock. It played the chicken dance song. Awesome, I know. It got me up in the morning and that's what matters. I jumped out of bed and dragged myself to the bathroom. I took a quick shower and got dressed. Surprisingly, nothing happened this morning. I walked downstaris to see mom made me blueberry pancakes.

I smiled. "Thanks, mom," I said. She looked at me and smiled. "Sweetie, I just wanted to tell you you are doing a really good job," she said. Yeah, my mom is a retired super hero. She can make herself invisible and burst into flames. I thought it was amazing, and it still is. She doesn't really use her powers anymore. "Where's dad?" I asked, shoving a pancake in my mouth.

"He's in the shower," she said. My daddy has super strength and can control water. No one really knows how I can fly or use super speed. It is pretty amazing. "Hun, we need to have a meeting later in the HQ to discuss Bone Breaker," she said. I hissed st the mention of him. He once used my kryptonite and I was this close to dying. I was terrified. Daddy helped me, though.

"Alright, Mommy," I said, finishing my pancakes. Daddy walked in, buttoning up his shirt. "Hi, Daddy!" I said, getting up and kissing him on the cheek. "Hey, Selena," he said, scrubbing at his cheek. "Stop putting syrup on me!" I smiled and kissed his other cheek and he scowled. "Mommy!" I said. "Can Daddy take me to school?" She looked up from the dishes and said, "If he says it's okay," she said. I looked at Daddy.

"Please, Daddy?" I asked, jumping up and down. I put a hand on my shoulder. "Darling, an eighteen-year-old shouldn't be acting like that," he said. "But sure. Anything for you." I smiled and stopped jumping. "Yay!" I said hugging him. "What's the occasion?" he asked. I smirked. "I didn't have to work yet today," I said.

His eyes widened. "Really?" he asked. I nodded, a mischevious smile covering my face. He ruffled my brown-red hair. "Well, sweetie, we better get going," he said. "You don't want to be late." I smiled. "You have to catch me first!" I said. I flew to the ceiling and sped into the living room. "Selena!" my mom scolded. "Yes?" I said. Wow. I feel like Astro Boy. You know, that cute little robot boy?

I went into the laundry room and made a gust of wind slam the door shut. "I know you're in there," Daddy said. I sucked air in. He opened the door and I blew a huge gust at him. Just as I was about to run, my mom reappeared and grabbed me around my waist. "Mommy!" I screamed. "No fair! Cheats!" Daddy and Mommy laughed and said, "Get to school." Dad kissed Mom on the cheek and said, "Later, Honey." I ran to the door and grabbed my backpack. "Dad! Let's go!" I said impatiently.

He came in the room and grabbed his keys. I opened the door and said, "Bye, Mom!" Dad walked to the car and I jumped in the passenger side. "Feels weird driving to school," I said. "I wish I could just fly as Jamie and get changed." Dad shook his head. "Now, now. People would know where Jamie goes to school then," he said. I huffed. "Yeah, but still," I said. "I love flying."

I jumped out of the car and waved like a maniac in his face. He laughed and shook his head, driving away. "Selena!" I turned around to see Marvel running over to me. "You will never guess what happened to me yesterday," he said, his eyes sparkling. I scratched my head and said, "Um, you hit pueberty?" He smacked my arm and said, "No! Jamie. Night. Came. To. My. House."

I rolled my eyes. "Do tell," I said, even though I already knew all about it. "Well, she just like came to my window and came in my room! Then she took me flying. It was amazing. She was like zoom- pshaw- chhh- pow!" he said. "She like stopped on a building and got a drink out of thin air. It was so cool. But then she splashed me with water. Then she got it off. She was just like a normal person, not like 'oh, I'm so much better then you because I have powers'. No, she was normal."
