Chapter 5
I woke up slowly, remembering I was hurt. I groaned and mumbled, "What have I got myself into this time?" I picked out a needle in my arm and beeping went off. Oh, no. I jumped ouy of bed, until I fel a searing pain in my side. I hissed, really close to screaming. I picked more needles out of my arms and started to drag myself over to the door. I was faintly aware of my mask, still clipped to my hair, and the sound of pounding feet getting closer.
"Jamie?" Some weird doctor came in and I gave him a look. "What the heck? Why are you on the floor?" I looked away and concentrated on getting myself in the standing position. "Jamie. Here let me help," he said. I jerked away from his touch. "Get away from me!" I said. "Jamie!" he said. "Are you crazy? You aren't going anywhere!" I glared at him.
I let him pick me off the floor. I made a move to the door, but he stopped me. He shook his head smiling. "You have to stay here for a couple days," he said. I groaned. "What, am I just suppoes to sit here and do nothing?" I asked. He scratched his head. "Well, I can stay here, if you want," he said. "Wait. Who are you, again?" I asked. He smiled, showing his pearly whites. "I'm Peter. Peter Falon," he said.
"You are a doctor, right?" I said, looking at his skeptically. He nodded. "Yeah, it may not seem like it at time, but I'm a certified doctor," he said. I nodded, staring past him at the waiting room. There was a mob of people there. I rose my eyebrow and said, "What's that about?" He glanced back and said, "Well, that's your fans. They all want to come in here," he said. I shook my head, laughing a little.
I looked at him seriously. "Send them in," I said, trying not to laugh. His eyes bugged. "What?" he said, panic in his eyes. I laughed. "I'm kidding," I said. "But if Mom and Dad are there, can they come in?" He nodded. "Of course," he said. "Hold on a second." He walked out of the room and looked at the mob. "Lily and Jack Night!" he called. "She wants to see you." They pushed their way through, dodging papers and touchy fans.
"Mommy! Daddy!" I said, as soon as I saw them. Mom closed the door, telling Peter they would tell him when they were done. They hugged me, careful of my side. "Sorry, sweetie. Your father had to leave last night," mom said. "He couldn't handle the chair. Said it was 'an uncomfortable piece of crap.'" I laughed.
"I love you guys," I said. They laughed. "I'm sorry I wasn't there quicker," dad said. "I couldn't find my mask." I shook my head. "It's fine. I mean, I need to experience these kind of things. To make me stronger for next time," I said. They looked at me for a second. Mom leaned forward and kissed my cheek. "Sweetie, no one should ever have to experience that.Bon Breaker should be dead by now," Dad said. I rolled my eyes.
"Can you get my iPod?" I asked, giving him my puppy dog eyes. He debated for a minute, until mom yelled at him. "Go get it, for God sakes! She can't go anywhere and you're sitting there about to tell her no? Jesus, you pitiful man!" she said, shaking her head, smirking. Dad stared at her. He kissed my forehead and glared at mom. "Fine, I'll be back," he said, walking out of the room.
Peter came in a couple seconds later. "Is everything alright?" he asked, looking at me. "I think she's hungry," my mom said. His gaze flicked to her, but flicked back to me just as quick. I nodded slightly. My stomach growled and they laughed. "I guess that answers that question," he said. "I'll be right back." He walked out and mom immediately said, "He likes you." I stared at her, shocked. "Huh? No, he doesn't," I said.
She nodded. "He does," she said. "I can tell." I stared at her. "How old is he?" I asked. She rubbed the back of her neck. "Well.. no more then nineteen," she said. "He must be very talented to be a doctor at a young age." I nodded. "How old does he think I am?" I asked. "He thinks you're either his age or twenty," she said. I must've forgotten to tell you. Mom can read minds. Amazing. but I didn't get her powers. Sad, I know.
