Chapter 8

I flew to the park and sat in my favorite tree. No one would be bothering me today. Since Dustin got hurt, no one would be following me today. or so I thought. "Jamie!" I sighed. "What?" I asked. It was Kevin. "Can you give me a kiss on the cheek?" he asked. I rolled my eyes, jumping off the tree. "And why would I do that?" I asked. He scratched his head. "I won't be bad anymore, ever again!" he said. I sighed and said, "Will you stay out of my hair?"

He nodded eagerly and I sighed. "Oh, fine," I said, stepping closer to him. I quickly leaned forward and pecked his cheek. He stood there with a stupid smile on with his eyes closed. "Kevin?" I said. "You can open your eyes, now." His eyes snapped open. "How do you know my name?" he asked. Uh, oh.. I sighed. "I thought you said you would leave me alone," I said.

He nodded. "Oh.. oh yeah," he said. "See you around, Jamie." He walked away and I sighed, runnign a hand through my hair. I flew back up in my tree and stared at the sky. It's a pretty nice day. Some white puffy clouds are in the distance, but that didn't do anything to the deep blue sky. I sighed, leaning against the tree trunk.

I can't believe those guys hurt Dustin. He most likely didn't do anything to deserve that. I sighed. Am I really starting to like Dustin? He's so rude to me when I'm Selena, but when I'm Jamie, he's so sweet. Maybe if I talk to him about Selena, he'll be a bit nicer and start to like her. It could happen, you never know.

"Jamie!" I fell off the tree with a loud, "Oomph!" I must've fallen asleep, because the next thing I knew a crowd was trying to rip my clothes off. "Hey!" I said, as someone gripped on my shirt, tugging it up to expose some of my skin. I felt a warm wet thing slide against my bare skin. Someone just licked me.

"Ew!" I screamed. I grabbed my shirt and tugged it back down. Someone grabbed my mask and tried to pull it off, ripping my hair almost out of my head. "Ow!" I said. "Hey! get off me!" I twirled my finger, making myself on top of a mini tornado and everyone backed off. I flew higher into the sky and someone threw something at me. "Hey!" I screamed down at them. "Do you want me to come and save the day anymore?"

"No!" they all screamed in unison. "We don't need your help anymore!" I shrugged, getting madder by the second. "Fine!" I shouted. "You all can wallow in you misery, then!" I flew off, feeling sad and used. They didn't need me anymore? What's up with that? I sighed, slowing down. I noticed a reporter down by the side walk.

I flew down to her. "Jamie!" she said, smiling. "Can I get an interview?" I sighed. Why not? "Sure," I said. She frowned. I never say yes. "Okay, Jamie, is it true you aren't going to 'save the day' anymore, as you put it?" she asked. I nodded. "If they don't want me to help them, so be it. I don't have any reason to be near people who don't want me," I said. "Although I don't get the reason for the sudden change of attitude."

She nodded. My stomach growled. "Looks like I have to go. I'm starving," I said. I smiled into the camera. "Looks like this is the last time Jamie will be saying goodbye," I said. "Well, up up and away!" I sadly smiled and tried to hold my tears back. "Thank you, Jamie," the reporter said. "Hopefully people will change their minds. I know I need you." I smiled and said, "Thanks."

Flying home to never use my powers the way I want to again was one of the hardest things I ever had to do. I flew through my window and took my clothes off, folding them and putting them in the very back of my closet. I slid my watch off and laid it on top of my suit. I sighed and jumped in the shower, getting rid of my wind-blown hair and the smell of outside. My life is overly messed up.
