Chapter 6
I woke up in the middle of the night. Something was bothering me. I shook my head, trying to get rid of the feeling. I saw a sliver of moonlight coming from the windows and realized someone closed the blinds. I got up and noticed nothing hurt anymore. I sighed and stretched. I left a quick note to Peter and opened the door soundlessly.
There was someone outside my door, propped up by a chair. It looked like they were suppose to be keeping watch, but fell asleep on the job. I smiled and creeped past him slowly. I made my way to the Hospital waiting room, but it was light here. There was a grumpy reception lady sitting at the desk, listening to her iPod. I smirked and ran to the revolving doors quickly and slid out of them. She didn't even notice.
I jumped to the sky, trying to dodge any car or anything, because I don't have my usual clothes on, so anyone could see my undearwear. That would be embarrassing. So I kept to the roofs of buildings until I got to my house. I flew to my window and opened it.
I slipped into my room, closing the window behind me. My digital clock read 3 o'clock. I groaned and slumped down on my bed, taking off my mask. I set it in my drawer and changed into my pjs before sliding into bed. I slid a hand over the covers, marveling at their softness. I sighed before slipping into a dreamless sleep.

I woke up slowly and realized I had to get to school. "Shit!" I said, while scrabbling for my clothes. I got dressed in super speed. I grabbed my lunch from mom still mumbling, "Shit, crap. God, shit. Oh, man." Dad and Mom looked at me, amused. I sighed and ran out the door, running as fast as I could without my powers.
I burst into homeroom. I was red, but not panting or anything. I wasn't even running fast. "Why are you late?" Mrs. Maddy asked. I looked at her and realized she was cheating on her husband with Mr. Pompus. I smirked. "Oh, I slept in," I said easily. "Couldn't be bothered to get up on time." Her face turned red and she said, "You've got a week of detention, Missy!" I smiled at her and feigned innocence.
I put my finger to my lip, cocking me head to the side and looking at her with big eyes. "Really?" I said. "I do? Maybe I should tell your dirty little secret." I added a devilish little smirk to complete my words. She stared at me in shock. "That's blackmail!" she stated. I shrugged. "Maybe I should tell.. everyone.." I said, watching her reaction with a half smile. She broke. "Okay!" she said. "You don't have detention! Just don't say a word about it.."
I smirked and said, "Yeah, I might just use it later on.." She looked scared for a second, but covered it up with a stern, "Sit down!" I strolled to my seat, getting shocked glances from everyone. i glared at Kevin and he just smirked. "Ego problems," I muttered. He laughed, which had Mrs. Maddy on him in a second. "I something funny?" she asked.
He smiled and said, "No, Mrs. Maddy. Just something Selena said." I smirked at her. "Don't worry, I didn't tell him," I called over my shoulder. She visibly relaxed and I smirked. I fell back in my seat, relishing the class period. I could do what I want, and Mrs. Maddy wouldn't do anything about it.
