Chapter 20
I flew back to Fire with a frown on my face. "So, what'd you get?" he asked. I looked up with a grimace. "Sorry, Fire," I said. "I didn't get anything because Tam was there and we had a little.. fun." He chuckled. "I'll just make you something," he said. "I was going to but you just decided to go." I nodded. Suddenly my finger were itching to punch something. "Bye, Fire," I said, clencing my fists. He laughed, and hopped onto his motorcycle, driving away. I grit my teeth and walked farther into the woods. I screamed really loud. Dustin pisses me off.
I punched a tree as hard as I could. It broke and flew a couple feet. I smirked. Then I kicked another one. I pounded on the floor, making dirt fly up. "Oh, let's play with Selena's heartstrings, will you?" I said to myself. I punched another tree. "She doesn't like it?" I kicked it out of my way. "Too bad!" Then something started to happen to me. I was feeling really hot. I fanned myself. I started sweating. Then it all went away. "Huh," I said. "That was weird.." Then I picked up my hands and looked at them. They were on fire.
I shook them. Then I smiled. "So I did get Mommy's powers, after all," I said. "But did I get her invisibility?" I walked back to the cottage, leaving a trail of burt grass in my wake. I smiled and jumped into the air. I went to go find Fire. I flew into town and saw Olivia. I decided to have some fun. I fell on the floor in front of her and started moaning. "Ooh," I said. "I'm burning to death!" She scoffed. Then her eyes widened when she saw it was me. "Please, don't hurt me," she said, cowering in fear. I didn't like that. Not at all. "Hey, I won't hurt you," I said. "But I don't know how to put this fire out."
I lifted my arms up. "Is it true?" Olivia asked. "Are you really a villan?" I sighed and nodded. "What color are your eyes normally?" she asked. I looked at her weirdly. "Um, brown, why?" She took a step back. "They're red and black," she said shakily. I smiled. "Really? Cool!" I said. She laughed, shaking her head. "You know, you seem like a cool girl," she said. I smiled. "Thanks," I said. "I have to get going though. I was looking for Fire, but I got sidetracked.." She smiled and nodded. "See you," she said. I jumped in the air. "Yeah.."
I flew back to the cottage, still on fire. "Jeez, how do I get this fire out?" I said to myself. Fire saw me and did a double take. "Don't come in here," he said. i looked down at myself. "I don't know what to do!" I said. He put his hands near me and took ahold of my face. "It doesn't burn me," he said, noticing my worried face. I sighed. "Just get some water and put yourself out," he said. I didn't think of that! I summoned the water and tried to put myself out. It didn't work. I got more and made a water bubble around myself. It still didn't work. A look of realization crossed Fire's face.
"Are you mad about something?" he asked. I nodded slowly. "Dustin," I growled. The fire around me got larger and more fiesty. "Whoa," he said. "What did he do?" I growled. The fire was building to an inferno. "He freaking thinks he's going to get me and know who I am," I said. Fire gave me a weird look. Then he took my face and kissed me, hard and long. I got butterflies and I forgot all about Dustin. Fire ran his hands over my now-normal arms and I shivered. He pulled back and said, "That worked." He smirked at my dazed face.
"Looks like you discovered a new power," he said. "Lucky, I only have one." I smirked at him once I regained my posture. I yawned. "I'm not hungry anymore," I said. "I'm going to bed." Fire tried to reach for me, but I dodged him. I was still pissed, no matter what he tried to do. I couldn't have feelings for Dustin. I couldn't.

I woke up to the sound of Fire saying my name frantically. "Baby, get up!" he screamed. "Go away," I said. "You have to get up, Marce. Get up!" he said. I opened my eyes and noticed the whole room was on fire. "Shit!" I said. "What happened?" He pointed to me and I was on fire. "Oh, no," I said. "What do I do?" "Get water!" he said. I closed my eyes and summoned water to me. I splashed it all over the room, but I was still on fire. "I need to leave," I whispered. I jumped out the window and flew away from him.
I flew to my old house. "Mom!" I called. She appeared at the door. "What do I do?" I asked quietly. Her eyes widened. "When did this happen?" she asked, slipping her mask on. "Yesterday I got made and burst into flames!" I said. She ran over to me and burst into flames, too. "Honey, how did you turn on fire this time?" she asked. I shook my head. "I don't know!" I said, panicking a little. "Fire woke me up becasue I was burning the house down!" Mom took me by the shoulders. "Calm down, sweetie," she said. "Calm down." I thought of cupcakes and saving people. I thought of floating in water at the beach. I thought of Kristina.
"Good, sweeite," she said. "Now, there's a way to control this. You have to keep your anger in-check. Don't let your anger get the best of you." I swallowed, opening my eyes. "I see," I said. "Thanks, Mommy." She nodded, her fire extinguishing. "I miss you, baby," she said. "I'm sorry, Mom," I said, turning away so I wouldn't see her cry. "It's been a week," she said. "Come back." I shook my head. "I'm sorry, I can't," I said. She turned me around. "i can't believe you're doing this to your mother!" she said. Then she slapped me. She slapped me.
This is the first time, in my life, that I have ever been scared. "Selena?" she said. "Where are you?" i turned away from her, tears falling form my eyes. "Selena, I'm sorry," she said. "I just- just couldn't control my anger." I turned back to her. "I'm right here, are you blind?" I said. "I haven't moved!" Her eyes widened again. "Why can't I see you, then?" she asked. I picked up my arms. I couldn't see them. "Mom!?" I said, getting slight hysterics. "Don't worry, honey," she said sadly. "i was like that, too." I gotta go, Mom," I said.
She waved and I didn't look back. It was almost time for school. I flew back to the cottage and opened to door. "Marcie?" Fire called. "Is that you?" I snickered. "Yeah, come and find me!" I said. He stepped into the room and looked around, trying to find me. "Marcie?" he asked, rubbing th back of his neck. "I'm right here, Fire," I said, standing in front of him. "I don't see you," he said. "That's the point," I whispered, then kissed him. He was surprised, but quickly pulled me to him. I smiled and pulled away. "Time for school!" I said.
He scowled. "Such a tease," he said. I smiled. "I'm taking a shower!" I said. I grabbed a change of clothes and a towel. I took a quick shower, humming to myself. I turned the water off and grabbed for my towel; the towel that wasn't there. Fire. "Fire!" I called. "Give me my towel back!" I heard his laughter. "Sure, sweetie," he said. "Come and get it!" I scowled. "No!" I said. "Give it to me!" I wasn't wearing my mask. I quickly crossed the room and put it in my wet hair. Then I noticed Fire was in the next room over. Thank God he didn't see me without my mask on.
"Fire, you better not look!" I said. "Sure," he said. I grabbed the towel from him and slipped it over my body quickly. "Idiot," I hissed. He didn't notice. He was too busy staring at me. "Stop it, Fire!" I ground out. I ran away from him and slammed the bathroom door. I got dressed quickly. I stepped out and Fire looked dazed. "Okay, snap the hell out of it," I growled. He shook his head. "I guess I should take you to school, then," he said. I smiled and shook my head. "I think I can handle it," I said, stepping out of the door. "Bye, Fire."

Two minutes later, I was rushing down the hall to first period. The late bell rang. I couldn't run any faster then I already was, because someone would suspect something. "Miss Starr, why are you late?" Mrs. Maddy asked me. I scratched my head. "Um.." She shook her head. I head a few snickers. I set a death glare at the class. They stopped instantly. With a satisfied look, I turned back to Mrs. Maddy. She was glaring at me. "What?" I said, adding some attitude. She picked her hand up as if to smack me. I didn't flinch.
She narrowed her eyes. This time she did slap me. My mouth popped open in shock. "Are you kidding?" I said. She smiled triumphantly. I smirked. Her hand was still resting against my cheek. I grabbed it and flipped her over my back quickly. She smashed on the floor. I smirked down at her. She looked up at me with fear in her eyes. That's when I realized just what I had done. Uh-oh.. The class was staring at me. Some had their mouths wide open. I smiled weakly. "Selena," Mrs. Maddy said weakly. I winced, glancing back down at her. "You're expelled."
