Chapter 24
I flew back to Fire and sat on top of the cottage. I swung my feet and knocked on the roof. Fire came out soon after, looking puzzled. When he saw me, he smiled, shaking his head. "Hey, Fire," I said. "What's up?" He smirked. "You," he said. I laughed and jumped down off the roof. I smiled up at him. He was a good six inches taller then me. He took my face in his hands and brushed our noses together. I gasped quietly. I never took Fire to be a romantic person. I closed my eyes and smiled. He kissed me lightly and, without moving, asked, "Go on a date with me."
I pulled bak a little. "How?" I asked. He smiled. "I have my ways," he said. Staring into his reddish gold eyes, I couldn't say no. "Sure, Fire," I said. He smiled and pecked my lips quickly. "But you need to let me get ready first," I said. He smiled. "Okay, Marce," he said. I smiled and patted his cheek. "When do you want to go?" I asked. "Today, later," he said. "Okay," I said. "What do we do now?" He smirked. "I have to do something," he said. "Without you." I smirked. "Okay," I said. "I wanted to practice anyway." He smiled. "See ya later, Marcie," he said.
I flew away and came to the lake again. I don't really know how I'm suppose to practice without Daddy. I guess I can just practice lightly. I did my stretches as a warmup. Then I did a few punces and kicks. Then I decided I didn't need practice. I laid back in the grass and took a nap.

I woke up to the souds of sirens. I groaned and rubbed my eyes. Or tried to. I still had my mask on. "Don't let her get away!" I snapped my head to the person who made the noise. There were three men standing there, with their phones out. "You really think you can stop me?" I asked. "No, but they can," Idiot number one sais, pointing to the police. "Really?" I said. "No, they can't." They were starting to piss me off. I felt my hair go on fire. "Oh, whoa," Idiot number three said.
I smirked, making my whole body go on fire. "Do you think they can catch me now?" I asked. They laughed. "Of course," they said. About twenty police came running. I smirked. I put up a wall of air. They couldn't pass it. Then I noticed some coming out of an airplane from above. Am I really that popular? Wow.
I didn't feel like killing anyone, but then again, I didn't feel like getting captured. Then lights came on me and blinded me. "Marcie Night! Put you hands up and stop with the fire!" I heard. Oh, alright. They asked for it. I stopped the fire. Then I thrust my hands up and made a mini-windstorm. Everyone fell over and I laughed. Then someone dropped a net on me. Uh, oh. I tried to get out of it as the police came closer. Then I thought, what the heck. I burned the net; ripped it apart. The police backed up a step. I smirked and made myself invisible.
"She's invisible!" a police called. "Don't let her get away!" I flew into the air and came into view. I stuck my tongue out. "I wasn't even doing anything!" I screamed. I started to fly away. Then I made the mistake of looking back. Holy crap! They have those military planes coming after me. Then actually shot missles at me. I went faster, but I wasn't fast enough. The missle caught up to me. I didn't want it to hit the town, but I didn't want it to hit me, either. I panicked for a second. Then I grabbed it and threw it in the sky. The only bad thing about that was, I didn't see the other one.
It came straight at me, and I didn't have time to react. It hit me in the gut and blew up. Now, you might think I blew up. Blew into little, bite-sized Selena pieces. No, I didn't. But it hurt like hell. I didn't have the strength to hold myself up anymore, so I plummeted to the ground. I fell like a rock, hitting the middle of the road. I heard a few bones crack, maybe even my back. I groaned and whimpered. I tried to move, I really did, but I couldn't. My healing wasn't working right. They probably used some of my kryptonite.
The police came and crowded around me. "Is she dead?" "Why isn't she dead?" I tried to open my eyes, but I couldn't. Maybe they could see who I am, but that didn't matter anymore. I didn't even know if I was alive right now. I probably was. Finally, after a few minutes, I could open my eyes. I snapped them open and started at all the police around me. "Nice job, guys," I said, my voice hoarse and raspy. "Let me go, now?" One police laughed. I moved my finger to try and make him fall over, but all that did ws a slight breeze.
"If you're wondering, yes, we used some of your kryptonite," he said. I whimpered. "Why?" I rasped. "You're getting too dangerous," he said. "But I'm going to die," I strained. He looked at me with sympathy. "It's for the best," he said. I glared the best I could. I closed my eyes and strained against the darkness. "No," I whispered. "No, I'm not dying." I felt something inside me break. "No!" I roared. "I'm not dying! NO!" That something broke fully and life spread throughout me. I stood up slowly and raised my hands. Lightning spread.
The police took off running. It looked like I was a lightning storm. "Yeah!" I said. "That's right! Run!" I felt drained. I slumped to the floor, breathing heavily. I felt my face to see if my mask was still there. It was. Wow. What a sturdy mask! I started walking towards Mommy's hose to get ready for my date. I flew up to the window. I fell through the window with a loud crash. Mom and Dad were there in a second. "Selena?" Dad said. "Is that you?" I looked up and gave a weak smile.
Dad and Mom ran over and gave me a bone crushing hug. I hissed. They pulled back. "Oh, right," Dad said. "Sorry." I picked myself up and took off my mask. I took off my shirt and looked at my stomach. It had a rainbow-colored bruise on it. I winced, just looking at it. "Oh, honey," Mom said. "I'm sorry, but the military said we couldn't help you." "They would've killed us if we did," Dad said. I huffed. "Well, I have to get ready for a date," I said. "So Mom if you could help me," I said. She nodded.
"If you're sure you're up for it," she said. I nodded. "I promised Fire." She nodded again. "Okay," she said. "I have the perfect dress for you." Dad left the room, saying something about a football game, and Mom came back. She was holding a little summer dress. It was light orange and had swirls on it. I smiled. "Perfect!" I said. "But can I take a shower first?" Mom laughed and nodded.
After I took a quick shower, I came back to my room to see Mom getting all my makeup out. I slipped into the dress and blow dried my hair, careful of my stomach. It hurts every time I move. Mom did my hair and makeup quickly. "Have fun, sweetie," Mom said. "Don't do something you'll regret." I scowled. Then nodded. "I won't," I said. She nodded. "Tell Dad I said bye," I said, slipping my mask back on. She nodded, waving. I slipped out the window and into the night. I'm going on my first date. With a villan.
