The smell of the temple was worse than anything. It was musty, dark, and the shadows sent chills down my spine. Up high was a fat toad with a giant black hat. He sat in a shallow pool of water. His eyes were half closed but he welcomed me.
"Kushina Uzumaki. Welcome. I am the Great Toad Sage. I have had a dream about you coming here. You look like your father."
"Its a pleasure to meet you Sage. How did you know I was coming?"
"I see many things my dear. One of them is the future. Come closer." He beckoned me.
Shima waited by the entrance as I walked closer to the big toad. He looked very old. Wrinkles creased his tan and fragile skin. His eyes grew wider as I grew closer.
"Ah yes. It is you from my dreams. Kushina, you will have a life filled with strife. One that you love will soon die. You will inherit a gift beyond all compare and you will see one you have lost."
I thought about what he said. "Someone I love will die eh?" I think to myself.
The Sage smiles at me and he reaches for my hand. "Now my dear it is time for you to make a contract with the Toads. Are you ready?"
"I think so." I murmur in reply.
"Very well." He claps his flippers and a tall red toad appears. He looks like he has a spring inside him. "Scroll Toad. I want you to prepare a new scroll for Kushina Uzumaki. She is making a contract with us."
"Very well sensei." The red toad bows and disappears.
Immediately he comes back and unfurls himself to reveal a fully written scroll with a spot for my blood.
I nervously take a kunai knife from my pack and slice my finger. I feel the warm blood sliding down my finger as it starts to shake from nervousness. The words that the Sage had said ringed in my ears. I though of Seru. Was he the one to die? I slammed my finger on the dedicated spot and felt my blood mix in with the chakra of the scroll.
The scroll toad rolled himself back up and bowed to me. Then he disappeared.
"Congratulations. Kushina Uzumaki. You are now part of the Toad clan! Just like your ancestors! Tell Naruto-kun hello from all of us."
I thanked the old Sage and waved goodbye. He sent me back with a puff of smoke and I ended back in father's Hokage office. He was waiting for me with a huge grin on his face.
"How was it? Everything go okay?"
"Yeah of course." I didn't tell him about my prophecy. "Everyone says hi and Shima said if you don't visit her she'll kick your butt."
His cheeks rose in color. "Yea I figured she say something like that. Come on. We are going to celebrate. Ichiraku's!" He grabbed my shoulder and beckoned me out the door.
I frowned. The prophecy still ringing in my mind. All the while Naruto ranted about all the new missions he handed out and about how Kakashi was saying how much paper he was using for his paper cranes. I smiled. Dad had changed somehow. Maybe because I was older. He still hasn't told me anything. Nothing about his Sensei. And nothing about mother. I only knew the stories he would say when he came home drunk but that was about it. I grabbed his shoulder back as we gaukily walked down the Konoha with our heads held high.
I was proud to be his daughter. I was proud to be an Uzumaki. Maybe I didn't have a dream but I had my father right beside me. One day he will tell me everything. One day.
