Chapter 34 Harder Than It looks

I woke up to a familiar face standing in front of me. She had long black hair that draped over her neck. She had bright green eyes. I suddenly heard a voice in my head.

Kushina? Hello! My name is Tae. I was sent here by your father to be your mind reader. He told me that you won't be able to speak but I'm here to speak for you. She gave me a small smile as my eyes adjusted. 

You? You can hear me? I thought to myself.

"Everyword!" She chimed in.

It was weird nowing that someone was listening to all your thoughts. I winced as the sun shone through the window. It hurt my eyes. She closed the blinds and sat by my bed.

"Ushio will be coming pretty soon. 3 weeks of total sleep can really take a toll on your body. He works down in rehabilitaion. Mainly physical. He's gonna try and get those muscles back in shape. And let me tell ya something," She stuck her face by my ear and whispered with a little laugh in her voice, "He's pretty cute! All the nurses talk about him! Even me! I'm not even a nurse!" She laughed.

She pointed at her eyes in admiration. "His eyes litterally stun the living cells out of ya! Don't worry. If you think of anything cute of him I won't tell him." She blushed. "He's still single! Can you believe that!"

I smirked to myself. My face muslces still stiff. I didn't want to try moving anything until this Ushio person showed up. If Tae said all those wonderful things about him I had to see him for myself.

While we waited Tae showed me her collection of leaves. Ironic as it was, she was a ninja from the Leaf and loved to collect leaves. She talked for ages about how she pressed them in her books. Sometimes she would go to the Sand and give people leaves from the Leaf.

"Here! I even make necklaces!" She took one from her neck and dangled it from her hand. A red leaf. Small but still beautiful.

What tree is that from?

"A maple tree. This red comes in the fall. Then they fall of the tree. That's why its called fall!"

I know the seasons Tae. I'm not a kindergartener.

"Oh I'm sorry Kushina!" She gave me a sad frown as she stuck her necklace back over her neck. Just in time. A man stumbled into my room. He was tall. He wore white scrubs that reflected off his slightly tan skin. He had brown wavy hair that fell across his face. His eyes made my heart beat faster. Silver. Foreboding but hidden deep down was a fire that glittered behind those iris'. He gave me a gorgeous smile. I would've blushed but my cheeks were pracitcally gone.

Tae smiled once she saw him. "Hey Ushio!"

His silver eyes blinked to Tae's and instantly fell back to his clipboard. He sighed. "Hey Tae."

"Is something wrong, Sushi?"

"Don't call me that okay! I'm sick of girls calling me nicknames! Especially ones that don't make sense. I'm here to see a patient. Excuse me." His silver eyes flicked towards mine once again. "Uzumaki Kushina. You've been the talk of the hospital for quite some time. You've been healing up faster than everyone anticipated even me!" He smiled as he sat down next to me. "Now it says here that you have very severe burns that have affected your muscles so we are going to take it slow. What's your goal?"

To walk again.

"She said to walk again." Tae repeated every word.

"Very good goal. Today we are going to start out small. Let's begin by helping you up." He carefully helped me up. I groaned. The pain was worse than I thought. He stopped. "Does this hurt?" I quickly nodded as his silver eyes bore into mine. I recoiled from his gaze and fell back onto the bed. That hurt worse than getting up.

I winced as the pain soared through my body. My eyes snapped shut. I heard Tae's voice in my head asking what happened. I ignored the question and instead groaned from the pain. I instantly felt a soothing sensation enter my body. More painkillers.

Go to sleep Kushina. Ushio said that we'll continue when you get better. If you need anything just hollar okay! I can hear you!

I took her words into consideration and let my mind wander. Would life be like this? I can't even stand in bed. This was harder than I anticipated. I had to talk to Nyen. She would understand. 3 weeks. 3 weeks I had been asleep. For that long I was with mom. I took that into consideration as I drifted farther into sleep.
