He whispered a name. One that felt sacred. Saika. His previous lover. The girl he failed to protect. Was that the person he saw in me? Saika? For some reason I hoped he didn't see Saika. It not only hurt me but it hurt him just thinking about her. I got up and looked at him. His form, still, peaceful.

"Takeo?" I said.

"Hm." He said.

"You want to head into town? We need some more supplies."

His eyes flicked open and he groaned as he stretched. "Let's go." He said as he got up. I didn't decide to mention Saika. I could see he wanted to forget about his past as much as I wanted to.

I realized I was wearing one of his giant t-shirts again and a pair of my shorts. I buried my face in the warm cloth to smell it. Lilacs. I waited outside for him. The sun danced its rays across the deep blue sky. It was hotter then anything and I was already sweating.

The lake shimmered with the beaming sun high above. I walked over to the lake and looked at my reflection on the shallow water. My hair was matted and creased. I quickly put it up in a ponytail to hide my ridiculous bedhead.

Takeo came strolling out of the cabin wearing a grey t-shirt and green shorts. I smiled as I saw him. He still looked sleepy.

"Come on let's go!" I said with a laugh. I grabbed his hand and dragged him through the path along the forest. The way there felt different. Usually it was raining but the sun shone our path this time. The path led to the village. I grinned as I saw the villagers having another busy day.

"Let's see. We'll need some fish, more rice, some herbs, and a lot of vegetables." I said as I thought of the empty cabinet in the house.

"This way." He said as he took my arm and led me to the vegetable stall. I didn't particularly know what type of vegetable he liked.

"Leeks?" I said.

"Sure." He replied with a grin.

"What about some of this?"  This went on until we had enough supplies to last us a couple of days.

An old woman smiled up at us as we passed her. Her wrinkled face aged and worn. My face blushed and Takeo scooted closer to me. I felt his fingers intertwine with mine and I bit my lip. "Rice next." He murmured.

He carried all of the groceries. A woven basket full of rice was strapped to his back, fish hung from the basket, herbs over the rice, and a couple of other treats that I begged him to buy. I still held his hand, giving it a gentle squeeze.

I felt so happy. So free. Suddenly my eyes saw something in a store window. The light hit the window. I instantly veered towards the window and looked in. Fish of all shapes and sizes. My forehead rested on the glass. My breath fogged up the window as my eyes stared in awe. I felt like a kid at a candy store. Takeo grabbed my hand and took me inside. I looked up at him.

"Takeo we don't have to get a fish. I was just looking." I murmured.

"Kushina, I can see in your face once we leave you'll be begging for one. Pick one out." He said with a smirk. My mouth gaped wider and wider into a huge grin.

"THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!" I screamed with delight. I skipped away and started looking around for a fish.

A clerk walked over to me, "Can I help you miss?"

"Of course!" I said grinning. "I'm looking for a fish!"

"What kind specifically?"

"Any! I like orange though!"
