Chapter 40 Takeo

That night Ushio and I stayed up the majority of the night talking. We talked about nothing then we talked about everything. His silver eyes gleaming in the moonlight. He talked about his mom, which he never talked about his past with me at all. It sorta shocked me. I was glad to hear his story of how he was raised. He knew practically my whole story from the hospital but I told him about how Naruto used to treat me before the Chunnin Exams. He gave me a sorrowful look in his eye. We both felt the neglecting views of our parents. That's why I understood  his pain. That's why I wanted to help. 

For the first time I felt the feeling of talking to someone that you wanted to talk to for ages. That was the first night that we had a deep conversation. I was worried that we would run out of things to talk about. I didn't know how long it would last between us. I liked him a great deal. Something was off though. I couldn't quiet tell, exactly. 

The next day I visited Takeo. The leader of the Rain and the last person we wanted to see for our mission. Shino and the rest of us trailed along the wet sidewalks until we reached the main tower in the middle of the city. There was no door but it looked like it was under construction. A normal way up to the heights towering above. 

"We go up." Shino said and he leaped up with a surge of his coat. I followed suit and charged up the tower with him until we reached the top. A cloaked figure stood with his back to us. We were on a ledge over looking the city. A grand open spot. The cloaked figure suddenly whirled around. I stared at Takeo the foreign man I never knew. He was muscular, broad in the shoulders, brilliant hazel eyes, and long silvery white hair pinned up in a ponytail. Takeo, the leader of Ame. 

He greeted us with a brilliant smile plastered on his lips and then his eyes meet me. I shivered under his gaze. It must've been my scars. He never asked though.

"Welcome shinobi from the Konoha. You are much welcome here in Ame. You must be Shino. I've heard a lot about you from the 4th Great Shinobi War. These must be your team correct?"

"Yes." Shino replied. "Team 7 to be exact. Tae Mofun, Killian Nara, Ushio Okazaki, and Kushina Uzumaki." 

He bowed. "Pleased to meet all of you. Come. We must discuss the next point in your mission. I'd like to hear what good old Naruto has to say to me."

We followed him down a long dark tunnel until we reached a big room with a small desk set in the far corner. It was even bigger than my Dad's office. 

We sat down at the chairs and I continued to stand. Takeo took a seat and propped his hands on the table. I took a scroll from my pocket and handed it to him. His fingers brushed my arm but I quickly sat down. He opened the scroll and his eyes wavered on the thin paper. "Hrmm I see. Very well. You may leave now."

"That's it? We came all the way here just to give him a damn scroll?" Killian shouted in dismay. Tae grabbed his arm worridly. "At least tell us what the hell he said!" 

Takeo smiled. "Very well. Kushina here might not like it at all. He wants her to stay here and practice her summoning. More than that, Nature Chakra control. Here in the Rain Pein was known for his many summoning abilities and have been passed on to many of us here in the city. My guess is Naruto is too busy being Hokage that he put me in charge of that. Kushina do you object?"

I stared blankely into his eyes, completely shocked as the words rang around my ears. "No. I do not object. I will be glad to be trained under you." 

His eyes glinted as he sat up. "Very well. As for the rest of you. He wanted you to practice your summoning. We have other officials who would be happy to train you. Summoning is a very valid thing that you must do. Its also a good surviving technique. Shino, you can trust me. I'll protect them under any means. I'm sure you don't have to practice your summoning so you are free for as long as we train."

Shino bowed as he stood up from his chair. "Arigatou. Come let's go. We train tomorrow." 

I got a last look at Takeo as he stood above his desk giving me one last smile before I closed the door.
