Chapter 10: Hunter  

I sit through class still thinking about Liam and Gen. I mean I'm happy for him. He's my best friend and a good guy and all but something's not right. Two days and two human-wolf couples that are not even, apparently, possible. Doesn't that scream trouble? 

 Maybe this is a sign or something from  the goddess, Selene. I remember from when I was a boy hearing stories from my dad and other wolves about her. She giving birth to the first werewolves and helping them in times of need. But what would us mating with humans have to do with her?   

"Mr. Lupus? Mr. Lupus? Would you care to answer my question?" My teacher and the whole class was staring at me. Shit what did he just say?  

"Um the answer is  um... pie?" I guessed. I don't even know what we are learning.  

"That is correct. Now please look like you are paying attention in my class." Correct? Dam I'm good!

I turn to look at Alex, who was already looking at me. She mouthed to me "Lucky guess?"   

I mouthed back, "I knew it." And winked at her.    

She smiled,mouthing backs, "Sure you did" and then turned back to the board copying notes. She such a goody goody it's adorable.

  Luckily the bell rings and we are out of class. 

  "Hey um ... Alex can I talk to you." I hear as I walk out the door with her in front of me. I turn my head to see who called. Jared.

  "No Jared you can't." I answer back. Pissed he didn't leave her alone like I asked. 

  "Are you in all her classes or something?" He said as he was walking towards us.   

"As a matter if fact I am. So why don't you back off like I asked before." My fist clenching. I hate this guy. His smell. He's face. His grin. Everything! He made my mate cry and he should pay for it.  

"Why don't you make me jack ass?" Oh that's it! We were on the ground, fighting within seconds.

I watch in fear as Hunter and Jared roll on the floor hitting each other. They have to stop fighting! 

  I run into the middle and start grabbing Hunter'a shirt, pulling him off of Jared. All of a sudden I see Jared's fist come flying towards Hunter who easily dodged it but his fist kept coming. Kept coming at me.   

It was like everything was in slow mode. I watch as Jared's fist comes at my face and crashes into my nose. I let out a horrible scream.  

It hurts so bad. I drop to the floor holding my nose. I close my eyes as the pain keeps throbbing through my nose. When  I open my eyes I see my hands, shirt, and part of the floor was covered in blood. I've never been amazing with blood and especially now when there is so much of it. I feel sick.  

I hear Hunter, realizing I got hit, telling Jared to stop and running over to me. 

  "Alex, are you ok? Let me see your nose." I don't look up at him. It hurts to much. "Alex let me see." His voice is demanding and I do as he says. I lift my face up to him and remove my blood covered hands. People around us start making faces at the sight if my nose. Did I break my nose?   

I feel Hunter's hand on the side of my head. He is looking at my nose.   

"Alex put your arm around my neck." He seems so calm. Me on the other hand I'm paralyzed in fear, anger, and pain.   Hunter, noticing me not being able to move, takes my arm and puts it around him. I feel his hands work there way around me. He carefully picks me up bridal style and starts jogging to the nurse.  

"Stop running! It hurts!" I scream. He was trying to get me to the nurse fast but it hurt. 

"Sorry we're almost there." His words were calming me. I look at his tight white shirt now with a large blood mark on it.   We walk into the nurses office and I am placed on a bed. The secretary is running around trying to get things to stop the bleeding.   

"Here Hun, take this and hold her head back to stop the bleeding. I have to get the nurse." She hands Hunter a towel and rushes our of the room. He sits on the bed next to me. He then gently places the towel over my nose and bends my head back slightly.   

I look into his eyes. He has pain and anger flowing through them.   

"I'm so sorry Alex. I should have taken that hit and..." I cut him off.  

"No it's my fault. Don't say it's because it's not" Tasting more blood as I continue,"I shouldn't have brought you into my problems."  

He opened his mouth to speak but the nurse ran in. He was asked to get out which pissed me off. He calms me, if he's not here I might start screaming and then they'll think I'm insane. But even though I wanted to protest, he was pushed out the door.
