Chapter 25: Alex

"Alex where are you going?" Hunter was following me to the door of the office.

"My parents old office it might have some answers." I arrive at the door.

I place my hand on the door knob and pause. The last time I was in this room my parents were alive.

"Alex...?" I turn and see Hunter right behind me. He had this look in his eyes as if he was asking me if I'm sure I'm ready for this? I nod at him and open the door.

It looks almost exactly the same as it did three years ago. The windows in the back of the room give all furniture a light glow as the sun seeps through the glass Two dark wood desk, one for my mom and one for my dad, sit on either side of the room. A red leather couch sits in the middle of the room with the same old rug over the wood flooring. Everything is coated with a thin layer of dust.

I walk over to my moms desk. I start opening the drawers. I don't know exactly what I'm looking for. Would she put everything down somewhere?... A journal maybe?

Just as I pull open the right hand drawer, a loud bang comes from under some papers.

I move the papers over, revealing a green leather notebook. I pick it up holding it in my hands. I run my fingers over the gold letters on the top of the book:

ANW

My initials.

I turn to Hunter who was watching me. He walked over so he could see the lettering  on the notebook.

"Is it yours?" I shake my head. I never was able to keep up with writing a journal.   I turn my attention to the little black strap which was keeping the book closed. I slowly run my finger under it and lift it up. I open the cover.

In my mothers handwriting it says the words:

ALEXANDRA NICOLE WOODS Day 1- She has brown eyes and hair. She is so small and tiny in my arms. She is so fragile I'm afraid ill hurt her. Allen is so happy she is finally here and all he wants to do Is protect her from everything. Daniel is pleased to see his new daughter although he seems disappointed.

She isn't a pup which is strange. She is human. We called the doctor here but he doesn't understand either. Her genes should have been all werewolf. But, what I suspect is the she has my dormant gene. Thus meaning who ever she mates with will unlock her wolf.

I don't want my baby girl to grow up in the pack or knowing about wolves. She will not live her life as an outcast because she isn't a wolf. Well not a wolf yet. We will raise her as a human and we will have to be careful not to shift in front of her. It will be tough but we will do it. We are now a normal human family.

Although I will keep this journal and monitor everything she does. She is different and made to do something great some day. Wolf or not I know she will.

I stop reading. They did it for me. They hid there wolves for me, to protect me.

I feel Hunter's fingers wipe a tear off my cheek. I didn't even know I was crying.

"They did it for me. They went years of hiding for me." I turn to him and he just stares into my eyes. I am surrounded by his chocolate brown eyes. I start crying more and more. He wraps me in his arms.    I wish they were here. I never got the chance to say 'thank you'. They will never see me as a wolf or meet Hunter. I want them here. I want them here.

Hunter scoops me up and takes me out of the office. I clutch onto the book in my hand as he brings me up to my room. He lays me on the bed and walks around to lay beside me.

He takes me in his arms again, hugging my tight to his chest. I just continue crying into his chest, squeezing the book in my arms. I never want to let this book go. It contains the answers to my questions and might help me better understand my family.
