Chapter 24: Alex  

I watch as my brother loads up his car and drives away. I hope he thinks of something quick because I want this insanity to be over.   

I take a deep breathe of the cool crisp air. It's such a nice day out, warm from the sun but with a cool breeze. I wanna play soccer. It stinks because with my leg hurt and all, I can't play.   

I close the door and crouch over to the couch. I sit down and grab the remote. I might as well watch some Tv and have my mind go dead for a little while. See when I was a kid you would be able to put me in front of the TV and I would be dead to the world for hours. Seems I never grew out of it because it took Hunter almost banging down the door to break me from my trance.  

"ALEX!!!" He bangs on the door again. I quickly turn the TV off and grab my crouches.   

"I'm coming!" I crouch over to the door and open it. I loose my balance a little and start falling backwards, until a hand catches my lower back.  

"Why is it that I always find you falling?" Hunter smiles down at me with a cocky grin. He picks me up, letting my crouches fall to the floor.  

"I'm not always falling! Just... Majority of the time." He laughs as he walks into the house, kicking the door close with his foot.  

"So whatcha wanna do?" He looks down at me and I look up at him. Our eyes locking. He leans down and kisses me. He drops his bag on the floor and adjust me so my legs are wrapped around his waist.   

I don't even realize him taking me upstairs and pushing my bedroom door open. Gently laying me on the bed and hovering over me. He breaks from the kiss and stares down at me. A smile stretches across his face making me smile.  

"What you smiling at?"   

"Your just so... Beautiful." He takes one of his hands away from the side of my head and pushes a stray hair away from my face. I laugh a little at his words.  

"Hunter... I'm wearing a pair of sweat pants and a oversized t-shirt. It's not exactly a best-dressed nominee." He chuckles.  

"Well in my eyes your the most beautiful girl in the world." He leans back down placing a gentle kiss on my lips then the tip of my nose. "I love you so much."  

I grab his head in my hands, forcing him to look me in the eye.

"I love you so much it hurts." I smile big and give him a kiss. I lean back up, pushing him up with me and stand up.   

"Hey, try walking." I turn my head back to him as he takes a seat on my bed.  

"Why? Ill fall." He gives me a look.  

"Just try." I sigh.  

"Ok." I lift my damaged leg and slowly bring it to the ground. Once it touches the floor I put my weight on it and take a step. I shut my eyes, readying for a serge of pain, but it never comes. I open my eye and turn to Hunter.  

He looks back at me in astonishment, wide mouthed and all.  

"Come here," I walk over to him a little hesitant with each step but make it to the bed and sit next to him. He grabs my bad leg and gentle pulls it up to his lap. He starts removing the bandages.  

"Ah Hunter I really don't wanna see my..." I stare wide eyed at my leg. It's healed, like healed healed. I mean there is white marks where the cuts were but besides that you can't see it. Hunter looks up at me and removes his hands from my leg towards my face.   

The Doc, when he was here, also re-wrapped my nose bandage. Hunter slowly takes off the tap and bandages. And stares at me.   

"What? What does it look like?"   

"It's healed." He still stares at my nose as I bring my hand to my face. I touch my nose and pressing it harder and harder, but no pain. I was healed completely.  

"How?" Hunter shakes his head with his mouth slightly opened in shock.  

"This must mean you have that dormant gene... But the Doc said she became stronger after she was claimed, and we..."   

"Yea I know so then how?"   

"Want me to call the Doc?"   

"No," I don't want the doctor. I think I should look for answers. And I know exactly where to start looking. I get up and walk out of my room, down the stairs to my parents old office.
