Chapter 17: Hunter
I hear the door open and I walk out of the kitchen to my dad.
"Son, what's going on?" He closes the door.
"Rogues kidnapped Alex, we have their scent and we are tracking..." I stopped as I smelled the faintest scent of Alex.
"Son?" He asked me questionably. It's probably on him from before when they met.
"Nothing. It's nothing. Um hear come in the kitchen we have everybody in there." I walk with my dad into the kitchen filled with people.
Chase and Liam. Patrick,Chase's dad, and Greg,Liam's dad, and my mom. She never met Alex but she was more understanding of the situation then dad was.
"Honey where have you been?" My mom asks.
"I was at the office."
After that Liam started filling everyone in on what happened and the search plans.
I am going with my dad. Liam and his dad. Chase and his. My mother is going in her car and will drive around the town.
Once we all have our plans, each group leaves. My dad and I being the last ones out.
"Ready dad?" I ask as we head out the back door towards the woods.
"Yes." We both shift and take off in search for my mate.
We are running for over 2 hours before my dad says he got something. I follow my dad as he follows the scent. Im not picking up anything though, but he is a better tracker then me so I continue following him.
I miss Alex. I can't stop thinking about her. I wonder how scared she is. If she is ok. If they killed her I would know, so she is still alive. I just wish I was able to save her. I wasn't strong enough and I will never make that mistake again.
Alex
He killed them. My parents. The father of the boy I love. He wanted me dead. And Allen too.
I am just sitting here on the cold floor in silence. I don't know what to think. I don't know what to do...
No I do know what to do. I have to get out of here, back to Hunter and Allen and Gen.
I get up and try walking, but the second I put pressure on my leg I fall to the floor. I'll just crawl. I get under the door and use the door handle to help me get up. I stand and turn the handle, obviously locked.
I look around my cell, something in here has to be able to get this door open. I get back on the floor and crawl to my bed.
I lift my mattress, under is wires interlocking. If I break off a piece I can use it to pick the lock like in movies, right?
I look and see at the end there is a loose wire. I bend it back and forth, back and forth until it snaps off. I stick it in my jean pocket and lower the mattress back on to the wires. I crawl over to the door and stand up.
Here goes nothing. I take the wire and place it in the keyhole. Moving it around and around, until it clicks. I turn the handle and the door opens. Thank you Hollywood! Who knew it would actually work?
I open the door slightly. It creeks. Shit! I peek out to see if Mac and Marcus heard me. The hallway is empty. I put my ear out and listen. I hear a TV faintly on. Might as well go for it.
I open the door a little more, allowing more creeks to fill the empty hallway. My heart is racing. The door is open enough for me to slip through. I stick my head out, still no sign of Mac and Marcus.
I take a deep breath and slid through the door. I trip a little, but catch the wall across form the door and steady myself.
I look left and right. Which way is the exit? Shit. I hear a door open down the left hallway, so I guess the right is my exit. I start trying to walk, but I keep falling. My leg is too week, but i have to keep going. I start limping and running, with every step a shot of pain flys through my leg.
I hear the steps enter the hallway as I turn into another one. That was close. I get to the floor and start crawling. It's quieter then my limping. I crawl into a small closet door that was slightly open.
I close the door leaving just a sliver of light to shine through. I look up and realize I'm in some janitor's closet.
I hold my breath as the steps come closer. I hear someone yell and run. They must have seen my door open. I have to go now. I open the door and get up. I start limping and attempting to run.
I turn another corner and see a red exit sign. I open the double doors and almost fall down the stairs. FInally, I see the doors that lead outside.
"Thank god." Then I hear the doors above bang open and feet running down the stairs towards me. I start running I open the door and the sun blinds me. I look around all I see is forest. I turn and see Mac turning the corner inside.
I continue running into the woods. I hear Mac yelling, but he isn't chasing me. I keep running though, putting as much space between me and the building.
I stop. I can't breathe. My lungs can't take in the air it needs. I lean in a tree, I can't stop though. They'll catch me. I need to get home. I need to go.
I pull myself back up and keep running.
I've been running for what feels like hours. I'm exhausted. I trip over something and land hard in the dirt.
I don't have the strength to get up. The ground is so soft and comfy. And I'm so tired. I hear a howl. Shit! They found me.
I try getting up again but it's no use I'm drained. I fall back to the ground and look up at the giant brown wolf in front of me.
I wrap my arms around my head in defeat, preparing for them to drag me back to the building. But it never comes. I look back up and I'm met with a familiar face.
"Liam?" He smiles and I finally relax. I lay my head back down and instantly am overcome by darkness.
