Chapter 23: Alex
"Always a werewolf? How?". Seriously, this past week might kill me. My life has changed. To think just this Monday I was a boring teenager who was naive and knew nothing. But now... Wow.
"Yes I was born one." Allen put his head in his hands. He was obviously not enjoying this conversation.
"But why aren't ..." He cuts me off as he looks back up at me.
"Why aren't you a werewolf? Mom and Dad never knew. They think you have that dormant gene that makes you change only after you are claimed but we don't know, since..."
"Yea I got it..." I take deep breath and put my hands on my head, trying to squeeze the enormous headache I am getting.
"Alex I know this is a lot to take but I think you need some rest."
"No!," I snap,"I don't wanna rest. I want to find out why my brother and my parents lied to me my whole life." I'm getting so frustrated. I'm not even mad at Allen to be honest. I'm just so confused and messed up right now.
"Alex, please calm down..." His voice was so soothing. I take a deep breath and look at him.
"Hunter's Dad killed Mom and Dad because they were suppose to take over the pack but he didn't want to loose his title. He kidnapped me and that's where I was, not at Gen's. I can't figure out how to tell Hunter and Mr. Lupus threatened me saying if I tried to tell anyone he would torture and kill you while making me watch." I said that all in one breath, so fast I still don't understand how the words weren't a slurred mess. It felt good to say it all out loud.
Allen just looked at me. He didn't say anything. Just keeps on looking at me.
"Allen? Please answer." He just kept stating his face blank.
He jumps up.
"I knew it!" He hits my nightstand with his hand, knocking over my alarm clock. "That jackass... It makes sense!"
"What makes sense? Allen? What's going on?" I'm so confused. What is he saying?
"I have been tracking him down since he killed Mom and Dad. I smelled his scent... It's what lead me to my mate. She had just came from their house. It all makes sense... And when you were with Hunter, I smelled it too." I don't know if he was happy or frustrated at this point.
"Um Allen now that you know what are we going to do about it?" He sat back down in the chair in front of me.
"Ok I am going to go out of town on business, but really I will be figuring out a plan for all of this. In the mean time you have to stay with Hunter. Every single minute you have to be with him. And don't tell him yet until I come back and tell you the plan ok?" I sit there for a minute trying process everything.
"How long will you be gone?"
"I don't know. As long ad it takes me to figure out something."
"Ok... I think I can do it." He gets up from his chair.
"I'm going to go pack, I want to leave as soon as possible." He is about to open the door and leave when a question pops into my head.
"Wait!," he turns. "Do I tell Hunter that your a wolf?" His face goes serious.
"No, don't tell him. He doesn't know and he doesn't need to know." I nod my head and he leaves my room.
I start looking for my phone and find it just underneath my bed. The hardest and most annoying thing is when you can or don't wanna get out of bed but you have to reach for something you want. Finally after what seemed like forever, I retrieved my phone.
