Chapter 11: Hunter

Chapter 11:Hunter  

Slam.  

I really have to sit out here while my mate is inside in pain?   

I can hear her heart beating faster and faster. She is scared I need to be in there! But I can't just go barging in. I mean they are not going to hurt, they'll help right?

  I take a seat across from the door and wait. I wanna be here when she comes out so I can tell her it wasn't her fault. Why would it be? If only I took that hit we wouldn't be in this mess.  

"Ow!" I hear her scream through the door. I jump up. Dam it I want to be in there with her!

  "Hunter." That is someone I was not expecting to be here.   

"Hey Dad. What you doing here?" Shit the only reason he comes to my school is when I get in trouble.   

"You got in a fight again and I was called from work." Oh great I'm dead. It's bad enough I got in trouble but I got in trouble and made him leave work.   

He started sniffing the air. Would he remember her scent?  

"Who's in that room?" I think he remembers.  

"Um it's this girl who got hit during the fight. I wanted to make sure she was ok." Please don't come out of the room yet Alex. Please don't come out.

  The door next to me clicks open and out comes Alex with a bandage over her nose. How ironic.

 "Oh Alex... Um hey", shit. "Alex this is my dad. Dad this is Alex." She tensed, I hear her heart rate rise as she turns to face him.  

"Oh um it's nice to meet you Mr. Lupus." She holds out her hand politely. He doesn't take her hand, he just stares at her. Stares at her neck. Her mark. It was completely out in the open now that her hair was up. 

  "Um dad...?", I don't knew what he is thinking but I'm worried. We can't mind link since we are both alphas so I have no clue what is going through his head now.

"Both of you outside... NOW!" He screamed.   Both of us hurried out the doors. I put myself between my father and Alex. As we walk out the doors that lead outside to the parking lot, I put my hand on Alex's shoulder. She was trembling in fear which sent a cold chill around me. 

  We get outside. I stand slightly in front of Alex as my father paces in front of me.  

"I can't... My son... With... How? Why?!" He was about to shift I could feel his wolf.

"Dad calm down and let me explain.", he stopped and walked towards me with fire in his eyes.   

"Then explain!" His wolf was scratching to the surface. 

  "I will... at home. Not here." He looked in my eyes and understood why at home. He started towards the car and I turned to Alex behind me.  

"Alex it's going to be ok." I smiled at her, "just stay behind me ok?" She nodded not letting her eyes leave mine.  

I took her hand in mine and walked towards the car with her at my heel.  

I open the car door for he she slides in and I slide next to her. My father starts the car and the 10 minute ride was cut to 4 minutes, as my dad sped down the road.  

We pulled into our driveway, Dad getting out and slamming the door behind him.   

I turn to Alex. And give her a quick peck on the cheek to calm her. She turns to me and meets my eyes. She looks so scared.   I take her hand and give it a squeeze. I open my door walk around the back of the car and open her door. She takes my hand and gets out of the car, we walk to the house and open the front door.

  My father stands in the center of the living room.   

"Sit." He gestures to the couch. I let Alex go in front of me and sit as I follow next to her.

"Now explain."  

"Dad. When I was in Alaska for the training, the other alphas and betas would talk about mates. How when you see them the feeling is like no other. They are the reason you live and breathe." I turn to Alex who looks at me, her face going pale with fear as I continue.," when I say Alex I felt that. She was the one. I knew it. Yesterday when you came home she was in my room. She felt sick and I took her here so she could rest... When she woke up I told her about us and marked her as mine because deep down I know she is, human or not. She is my mate."   

I was staring into his half wolf eyes. He was obviously not happy but you know I don't care. Alex is my mate and he cannot change it.  

"Are you sure it is your mate?" Did he just call Alex and it? What the fuck!  

"Yes Dad I am sure that ALEX is my mate. I wouldn't have marked her if I wasn't completely sure." I laughed a little towards the end.  It was kind of funny, did he really have to ask if I was sure. If I wasn't sure then there wouldn't be my mark on Alex's neck.  

"Son this is no laughing matter!" Shit that was stupid. Bad idea don't laugh.

 "Shouldn't you be happy for me?", now standing up challenging him. "I found my mate. Some wolves go years and years without finding theirs!" I was kind of mad now why wasn't he happy for me. 

  "Son I would be happy if ..." He stopped 

  "If what?!" I can feel my wolf he wants to come out.

  "If she wasn't her! You can die son. If something were to happen to her then you would die," he paused, "And I will not lose my only son to this stupid human."  

"Hey!" I hear Alex yell. Did she just challenge my dad? "I might not be a werewolf  and I might not understand everything but one thing I do know for a fact is that... I love Hunter. And I would never put him in a situation where he could be harmed." 

  Her saying she loves me made me want to take her in my arms and never let her go. She was mine and she knew it which brought a smile to my face.  

"How dare you speck to me like that!" My dad turned his attention towards my mate, " You are of no position to talk here."   

"Actually she does." He turns back to me with a shocked look, " She is the my mate and the future Luna of this pack. She has as much power as mom does even if she is a human."   

That was the last straw. With his anger at a all time high, he shift to his wolf. As he did he turned towards Alex and then me. Meeting my eyes then just took off thought the back door and into the woods.  

After he was out of site I went to Alex.

  "Are you ok?" She nodded.  

"I can't believe I spoke out like that... I'm sorry I shouldn't have done that."  

"No don't be sorry! Really. That was amazing. I have never seen anybody stand up to my father before. Let alone I have never talked back to him." I was smiling at her, which was making her smile back at me," I love you Alex."   

Her eyes lit up wit my words, "I love you too, Hunter."
