Chapter 30: Hunter  

"We should move her outside."   

"Wait why?" Why should we move her outside? She seems comfy in her bed.  

"Because when she shifts she will need some space. Also being closer to nature will calm her."   

"Oh got it." The sun is setting behind the tree line in the backyard. Alex will be awake soon.  

My head is spinning. I am worried about Alex. Also I don't have any idea on how I will confront my father about him killing my mates parents.   

I follow Doc into her room and I come to the side of her bed. She looks so at peace right now that I don't want her to wake up. I don't want her to endure that pain again. It's my fault too. I let my wolf take over, but it would have eventually happened.  

I gently slide my hands and arms under her, lifting her up. The second she comes in contact with my bare skinned chest she purrs which makes a small smile appear on my face.  

I wonder what her wolf will look like? What color will her fur be? Just thinking about my mate being in wolf form makes me happy. I just pray she survives. Life without her....   

No I can't think that way. I shove it out of my mine as I follow the Doc downstairs and out the back door. He stops in the center of her backyard.  

"Lay her here. When she wakes up she can shift here, far from anything and enough room to keep her calm."  

"How long do we have till then?" I check my watch, the sky will be black in about an hour.  

"At any moment she can wake. From now till the moon comes out." I nod and place Alex down. I move the stray hairs that fell on to face. Her skin is so warm and almost vibrating with energy.  

I was born a wolf. Every wolf that I know of was born a wolf. She having to transform into one must be unbearable.  

"Hey Doc why don't I feel her pain? Our mating bond... Wouldn't I feel it too?" He turned towards me.  

"I don't know. That was the same question her father asked before his mate changed. I guess it's something only she can go through." I nodded and he turned back to whatever he was doing. I turned back to Alex.  

The last lights of the day were shining brightly on her face. Her hair had hints of red showing as the deep yellow from the sun glowed. She looked amazing. So delicate and fragile.   That all changed when her eyes shot open.        

Alex  

Every inch of my body is on fire. Every bone in my body is ready to snap. My lungs are refusing to take in any air.

I can see is the sky above me, a deep shade of orange and fading to the dark black of night. Doc and Hunter are talking to me but I don't hear a thing, which is odd since everything was heightened before. Then it hits.  

Every single bone in my body cracks, shifting, tugging at my muscles and skin. I try screaming in pain but again nothing comes out. I take in a deep breathe in panic, fearing it will be my last. I see the Doc start trying to pull Hunter away from me.  

Why? I need him! I need my mate! I NEED HIM NOW!  

What feels like an electric current shoots through my body. Everything blurs out and relaxes. I don't feel pain. I don't feel anything as I slip into the darkness of...          

Hunter   

"No!" I shove the Doc off of me and crawl back to Alex.   

 The light in her face is leaving. Her eyes are closed. Her heart beat is gone.  

"Alex? Alex!" I pull her body onto my lap, cradling her in my arms.   

"Hunter she is..." I turn my head to him and cut him off.  

"No! She isn't... She can't be..." I look back at Alex. "Please baby please wake up. Wake up for me.", She doesnt move. Hot tears pour down my face, "You can't leave me here. You can't... Your my everything...". My wolf is losing it, I can feel his mind going insane because he is losing his mate. I know what will happen if she is truly lost, I know what I must do. I squeeze my eyes shut. "Alex, if you die... I die."  

Just as the words leave my lips I'm thrown back. Smacking the ground, hard.  

I raise my head, searching for Alex's body. It's gone and replaced by a gigantic white werewolf.
