-Two Years Later-
"Darcy!" I call upstairs. "C'mon sweetie! Some one is here for you soon!" She climbs backwards down the stairs with her blankie in hand.
"Mommy!" I pick her up kiss her nose.
"Did you sleep good?" I set her down in her high chair. She nods and slowly picks up her cereal. "Guess who's birthday is this weekend!" I smile.
"Mine!" She laughs. "Mommy, mommy!" She points out towards the front door. I turn around to see Eleanor at the door holding Leo. "He's here!" I laugh at her baby talk. She throws her hands up and when I get her out, she runs towards the door. The two hug once I unlock it. They're adorable.
"Let's plan a party." Eleanor claps. She's such a happy person it's contagious. I go pull some toys out for the two of them and head back to the kitchen. Eleanor already has some snacks sitting on the table for us and I grab a crisp. "Don't you think we should have started earlier?" She asks.
"Yeah, but It'll work out just fine." I answer. Darcy's party is this Saturday. Her actual birthday is Friday but Harry and I both have appointments at studios that day. Darcy, like she usually does, will come with me. She likes to play with Niall while I record with Steve, my sound tech. The way Darcy interacts with the boys is actually pretty marvelous. She's really cute and the boys are really good with her. We're currently putting the cherry on top of the potty training cake. She's so close to being fully potty trained. No more diapers for me!
I look over at Eleanor who is on the phone with the bouncy house people. I look down at her list. Apperently she has the food and drinks already taken care of. There really isn't alot to do. Suddenly, Leo walks in crying and crawls up onto Eleanor's lap. "What's wrong babe?"
"Darcy throw the tractor." He says with sniffles.
"Darcy Anne!" I call her into the kitchen. She toddles in with tears in her eyes.
"No!" She says as I ask her to come up and apologize. I hear Harry coming down the stairs heavily, ready for him to discipline her.
"Control your child, Madison." He walks right past the four of us.
"What was that?!" I say and grab Darcy and sit her in the high chair. "She's your child too Harold." I usually don't use 'Harold' very often, only when he ticks me off. He knows that too and he turns away from me.
"What I'm saying is, don't turn her into a brat!" He snaps back at me.
"Are you saying I'm a brat?!" I ask with acid in my tone.
"Maybe I am." He puts his shoes on and walks out.
"Don't come home Harold." I say under my breath. I grab a plate and look down at it. Don't throw it Madison. Darcy is watching. Don't do it. Don't be a 'brat'. I tighten my grip on the plate and set it back down in the sink. I look up and Eleanor is standing in front of me.
"Everything okay?" She asks with Leo on her hip.
"No... We've been arguing about the stupidest things. He's pushing my buttons on purpose and I know he is. He's being an idiot." I dry my hands off and head back to the living room.
"Where'd daddy go?" Darcy looks up at me.
"Uncle Louis" I grummble. "We need to go get decorations for your party hun. Let's go." I pick her up and head out the door, following Eleanor. I set her in her carseat next to Leo get in. Eleanor is happy to drive us to Party City.
"What are you going to do with him?" She says as we get out of the car. I shug and grab a cart.
"Slap him up." I say with a smile. I set Darcy in the baby part and follow Eleanor in. We make our way to the themed party supplies. Royalty. Darcy loves Kate Middleton. For some odd reason she has a strange, three year old girl obsession with her. I grab a pack of balloons and plates off the shelf. "What else do we need?" I ask looking into Eleanor's cart.
"I'll grab the rest." She says and marks things off her list. "Are you going to fix things?" She questioned me.
"I hope. I don't want to end up like Danielle and Liam." I answer. They're divorced and having a custody battle over their one and a half year old daughter, Taylor. It really is sad. The band came in the middle of their relationship. Danielle brought up things that Liam wasn't happy remembering. It was a rough few months. It still is rough.
"I think we're good." She says and we head to the check out. I take all the things from her cart and head to the counter. I lay a hundred pounds on the counter. We pack up the car and head home.
I will not end up like Liam and Danielle. I won't.
