"Bug..." He stands up. "You weren't suppose to find them yet. I've been holding them for a while. Incase we fixed anything." I lean up against the wall with my arms acrossed.
"How long is a while?" I ask. For some odd reason, I don't get mad at him.
"About a week." He looks down at me, without getting closer. "I didn't know when the right time would be. I didn't want to hurt you if it was to soon." I look down and shake my head.
"I didn't know you were that serious about getting out of here." I say quietly.
"It's not like that." He responds.
"Really?" I say, semi-sarcasticly.
"I'm leaving for you and Darcy's sake." He says.
"How is it going to help me?" I look back up.
"You wouldn't have to deal with me. You could be happy without me." He shrugs. "This fighting isn't good for Darcy."
"Yeah, I know. But what makes you think leaving will make me happy. I love you Harry, and deserting me won't make it better" I say with tears in my eyes.
"I know, but you're not happy with me. I can't stand to hold you in a place where you're unhappy." He sighs and shakes his head. "I love you too much to hold you back." We sit in silence for a few minutes. The tears continue to fall down my face slowly. "Mads...don't cry." He kisses my forehead. For all I know, that was the last time he'd kiss me. "Please don't do this to me." I few tears fall onto my head. "I'll always love you..."
"I'll sign the papers..." I just blurt out and turn around. There really was a reason not to. Harry wanted to leave and we were both tired of fighting. It's not like the fighting has just started. We've been fighting for two years now. I don't want to say Darcy caused it but she probably was a factor. I head back down the stairs and grab a pen from the cup. I don't know if I'm signing these out of pure exhaustion or actually thinking these through. It was 11:30 anyway. I look down at the empty line, just calling for my signiture. I quickly put the pen down and signed without looking back. "There...I'm done.." I say. "See you in court." I shrug. "I'm sorry this is happening."
"I am too... just remember, like I always used to say.... It all happens for a reason." He says and goes to lay on the couch.
"Well, goodnight..." I say and walk upstairs. It's official... I'm getting a divorce. I'm no longer going to be Madison Grace McKay Styles. I'll just be Madison Grace McKay. I mean, I don't want this to happen but it's best for Darcy and me. I peak in at Darcy as I walk to my room. She's sleeping peacefully like she's suppose to and I get to my bed. It feels emptier now, there was no Harry. There was never going to be another Harry. He isn't coming back.
I'm suddenly jolted awake by a high pitched beeping. Before I realize what's happening I jump up. Smoke filled the down stairs near the kitchen and I ran down the steps, It was the only way out. Sure as hell I wasn't jumping out of my window. "Harry!" I screamed and shook him. He jumped up and pulled me out the door to the front yard. Then he looks at me with fear in his eyes.
"Darcy! She's still in there!" He screams and I grab his hand.
"You can't go back in there! Are you stupid?! You're going to get yourself killed!" I scream back at me. "I can hear the sirens now, they can get her!"
"Madison! That's our daughter in there!" He yells, and begins to shake.
"You're going to die if you go in there!" I try to keep him form pulling away. With all my strength I hold him back.
"I'd rather die trying than have her die and live with the rest of my life with guilt!" He yells and breaks away from me. "I have to get her out!" He runs back through the front door and I quickly lose sight of him.
