Chapter 13

Anna's prob://

"What is it?" I asked confused.

"It's Gwen. He was in a bad car wreck he's in the hospital." He said gripping the wheel tightly.

Did I mention they are like best friends? We all are. This can't happen. No.

"How bad?" I asked worriedly.

"Been in emergency surgery since they got him to the hospital bad." He said stopping at a redlight.

My eyes started to get glossy. No. He can't go. He's my bfftnmbf. My best friend forever that's not my boyfriend. Remembering our joke made me smile softly.

"Hey it's gonna be okay." Hayes said putting a hand on mine.

"What if it's not?" I asked.

"It will be. Okay. Don't say that." He said and we arrived at the E.R.

We rushed out and I saw Gwen's sister Maddie sitting tapping her foot. I ran to her. She saw me and jolted up and engulfed me into a huge hug. Tears were going down our faces and we couldn't say anything. We all sat down silently and waited. 'Gwen Terry?' A doctor called and we all rushed to him.

"Are you the family?" He asked looking up from his clipboard.

"Yes we are. Is he gonna be okay?" Maddie answered quickly before we could say anything.

"We really can't tell what's going to happen yet. He's in a coma, because he was passed out before we got to him. He has some fractured ribs and is stitched up in a few places. The worst injury was a ruptured kidney, but he was very lucky it was in the place it was in a few hours of surgery could fix it. If you want to see him, room 162." He said.

"Thank you." We all mumbled before jolting to his room.

Room 162. We walked in and I saw his usually tan skin pale. His hair messed up, his lively eyes shut. Several wires hooked up to him. He looked lifeless other than the heart monitor beeping. Maddie saw him and burst into tears as did I. Hayes held it in but a few tears slipped that I saw.

"I'm gonna pick up some food. Anyone hungry?" Maddie asked wiping her tear stained face on her sweatshirt sleeve.

"I'll go. Anna?" Hayes said.

"No thanks. I'm not really hungry." I said looking down.

Hayes kissed my temple before walking out with Maddie. I pulled a chair up beside the hospital bed. I help Gwen's cold hand.

"Gwen. Please.please wake up. I need you. A lot of people need you. Your my bfftnmbf remember?" I laughed a little through the tears." I remember you always begging to watch gossip girl. I remember our play fights and wrestling that you always let me win. You are a little ball of sunshine Gwen. Without you, my world is gray. I need my bestfriend. Please wake up." I managed to get out. I could've sworn I felt him squeeze my hand but I think I'm just being delusional. I am pretty tired.

I let go of his lifeless hand and laid on the couch. My eyes got heavier and heavier and I drifted off while praying for Gwen.

Hayes's pov://

I walked back in the room with Maddie and saw Anna asleep on the couch curled up in a little ball.

"I'm gonna take her home, but I'm praying for him." I said quietly and gave Maddie a quick hug.

I picked Anna up and she wrapped her arms around me sleepily and I carried her out before taking one last look at Gwen. He is my best guy friend. I can't loose him. I got to my car and unlocked it. I carefully placed Anna in and buckled her up. I went around to the drivers seat and started driving to her house. Once I pulled up in her driveway, I got out and went around to her side to get her out. She woke up kind of.

"Hayes where am i?" She asked sleepily.

"We are in your driveway babe." I chuckled and picked her up bridal style.

She laid her head back on my chest and fell back asleep. Once I got to the door I carefully bent over and got the spare key from the fake bush and unlocked the door. I put it back and quietly went up the stairs to her room. I left the lights off and carefully placed her under the covers. I kissed her forehead and whispered 'I love you' I started to walk words the door but she grabbed my wrist and pulled me towards her.

"Please stay." She said opening her eyes.

"Okay hold on." I said before taking off my shirt and staying in my sweatpants.

I crawled in the bed next to her and pulled her to my chest.

"I love you." She whispered and pecked my lips.

"I love you too princess. Goodnight." I whispered and kissed her nose before drifting off to sleep.
