Anna's pov://I awoke to a hushed whispering in the room. I could hardly understand what they were saying but it sounded like arguing.
"Dude what the hell?"
"I swear, it's not what it looked like!"
"I fall asleep and wake up to see you all over my girlfriend. How are you gonna explain that?" Hayes.
I rubbed my eyes, slowly sitting up and speaking. "Hayes, don't get mad please. I can explain."
He turned to me. "Then explain."
"I had a dream..." I said slowly.
"And?" Hayes asked motioning for me to continue.
"It was Rick." I said quietly and his face softened. "Shawn was just comforting me." I explained.
"Sorry Shawn." Hayes spoke.
"It's alright, I understand. Um, I'll see you guys later." Shawn replied and awkwardly left the room.
I ran my hand through my hair taking a deep breath. "I'm sorry babe." I heard Hayes say.
"It's okay." I replied barely above a whisper.
He sat down beside me lifting my chin up so I was looking at him. "You can talk to me, okay?"
I slowly nodded, looking back down at my lap. As soon as I thought he was gone, he's back again. Everywhere I turn, him. My thoughts are eating me alive and sometimes I just can't take it. The flashbacks are too much to deal with. It's all too much. I hadn't even noticed I was crying until now. Hayes pulled me into his lap and I started to sob. He didn't say anything, he just let me cry while softly stroking my hair. I eventually ran out of tears. I felt Hayes softly twirling the ends of my hair as I laid my head on his chest.
"I promise you don't have to be afraid when you're with me. I won't ever let anything happen to you." He whispered softly.
"I know. It's just still scary. I just can't ever get rid of him." I replied.
"It'll eventually get better. It always does." He responded and I nodded not feeling like speaking anymore.
I heard a knock on the door before it opened. I didn't even bother lifting my head up. I felt drained, emotionally and physically. "Hey, you guys coming down to breakfast?" I heard Cam's voice fade as he ended his sentence.
"Maybe in a few minutes." Hayes answered.
"Alright." Cameron said faintly before I heard him leave. I know he was resisting the urge to ask, but he trusts Hayes and knows he is taking care of me.
"I should get ready." I said as I slowly got up, walking over to my suitcase.
I grabbed my clothes before telling Hayes to turn around so I could get dressed. I put on a black Thrasher shirt with ripped skinny jeans and combat boots. I went into the bathroom and brushed my teeth and hair then put on mascara after washing my face. I went back into the room and Hayes wrapped his arms around me.
"Do you want to go down now?" He asked.
"Just a minute." I mumbled into his chest. I stayed in his arms for a little while longer before pulling away. "Okay, I'm ready."
