Chapter 54

Anna's pov://

The next day

I decided to go to Gwen's house since he wasn't answering any of my calls or texts. I pulled in the driveway and didn't see his car. Hm that's weird. Where could he be? I got out of my car and walked up to the front door ringing the bell once I got to the door. His mom opened the door and looked happy to see me.

"Anna! How are you?" She asked pulling me into a hug.

"I've been alright. You?"

"Been doing good." She replied.

"I was wondering if you knew where Gwen is. I haven't seen him in days and he isn't answering his phone." I stated.

"Oh honey...he didn't tell you?" She asked and gave me a sad look.

I shook my head no and she motioned for me to come inside. We sat down in the living room and she started talking.

"He had enough credits to graduate early so he did and left for Texas A&M to attend college classes this semester. I can't believe he didn't tell you. That's not like him." She gave me a sympathetic look.

I was shocked to say the least. How could he not even say goodbye? The time I need him the most...he's gone. I didn't realize I has teared up until she spoke "I'm so sorry Hun."

"It's alright. I just don't know why he didn't tell me...." I said.

"Me either." She shook her head and sighed.

"Well thank you Tina. Nice to see you." I wiped my eyes and stood up.

We walked to the front door and I hugged her one last time before leaving. I drove home and went straight into my room without speaking to anyone. I sat on my bed and sighed. I tried calling him again, but it went to voicemail so I left one.

"Gwen... You- left without even saying goodbye.... How could you do that? You're one of my best friends and I love you... I need you. These past few days have been awful. A lot has happened. I... I just really wish you were here." Tears rolled down my cheeks as I spoke. "I really miss you. I love you." I sniffled and ended it and turned my phone off.

Magcon starts again next week. I'm really excited, but it's been good to have a break. I need to hangout with Emma some more before I leave, but I'm just not up to it today. My phone started ringing and I grabbed it seeing it was Hayes. I need a nap. I pressed decline and laid back sighing. I snuggled in my covers and eventually fell asleep. I woke up to someone shaking me and I groaned.

"Go away."

"Sis, you just got out of bed two hours ago and you're back asleep." Cameron said.

"I don't care. Leave me alone." I snapped.

"Geez alright." He sighed and left closing the door behind him.

I hate it when people interrupt my sleep. I laid there and turned over and turned over but couldn't go back to sleep. Great. Just great. I really want to go for a run, but my whole body still hurts. That probably isn't a good idea. I sigh and sit up. I should probably catch up on the online school work I haven't done.

After about two hours, I finished. Finally. It's 12:40 now and I'm hungry.  And I feel bad for snapping at Cam, I was just upset and tired. I walked to his room and his door was open. He was sitting on his bed on his laptop.

"Hey Cam. Sorry for snapping at you earlier." I said walking in and leaning against the door frame.

"It's fine. Don't worry about it." He replied.

"Well I'm gonna go get some lunch."

"I'm coming too." He said shutting his laptop and hopping up.

I chuckled and walked downstairs waiting for him.

We walked in Chik Fil'A excited for food. I stopped dead in my tracks after I stepped in. I saw Gwen sitting talking with Hayes. His back was facing me but Hayes saw me and smiled and waved. I just stood there and Gwen turned around. He got up and walked over to me.

"Can we talk?" He asked.

I nodded and we walked outside.

"I'm sorry." He said softly.

"How could you?" I asked.

"I couldn't stand having to say goodbye... Hayes told me what's happened." He said.

"Why couldn't you say goodbye? Why'd you come back?" I asked looking up at him.

"Because...I..." He trailed off.

"You what! Jesus Gwen! What?" I was on the verge of tears. "How could you leave me! Then all this happened! I needed you and you weren't there!"

"Because I'm still in love with you!" He said and I was shocked.

"I- I have to go." I turned and hurried off.
