Chapter 59

Anna's pov://

He had told Emma too. She said they needed a break, and that's when he knocked everything off his table and broke it. She never really knew Maddie that well, but finding out your boyfriend was a hitman is a big surprise. She had invited me over to her house for the night and I gladly accepted. I need to talk to Cameron first.

"I'm gonna go talk to him." I said to Hayes.

"Alright. Don't be too harsh." He kissed my head and I laughed lightly at his comment.

I tend to be a blunt person sometimes. Sugar coating isn't really my thing.

I knocked on his door and didn't hear a reply. I walked in anyways. He was sitting on his bed facing the wall with his back turned towards me. I sat beside him and he noticed me and looked surprised. I wrapped my arms around his neck and he hugged me back tighter than ever.

"Cam... Why did you need all that money anyways?" I asked.

Our family does pretty good, and he makes enough money himself.

"That's something else I haven't told you..." He sighed and looked down at his hands. "Mom and Dad have to leave for a while... I can't tell you about it, alright. I promise you're better off not knowing."

"What? Why do they have to leave? Where are they going?" I asked shocked.

He looked up and me and I could see hurt in his eyes. "I can't tell you. If I could, I would. I don't want you to get hurt."

"Cameron..." I felt the tears in my eyes.

He wrapped his arms around my shoulders. "Everything will be okay." He said softly.

What is going on? What if I never see them again? After a while of sitting on his bed hugging, I realized it was getting late and I needed to go.

"I should get going. I'm going to Emma's house." I said standing up and stretching.

I could see how upset he was.

"Just give her time... She'll come around." I said patting his back.

"I- I love her..." He said quietly.

"Yeah I know. She loves you too. Like I said, just give her time." He nodded and I kissed his cheek and said "I love you. I'll see you tomorrow."

"I love you more." I heard him say before I walked out the door.

I reached my room, and Hayes was still sitting on my bed on his phone. He looked up at me and smiled.

"I'll drive you." He said twirling his keys in his hand.

"Okay." I replied smiling.

I grabbed my bag and we set off.

"Thanks for the ride babe." I said as we pulled into Emma's driveway.

"No problem. I love you." He pecked my lips.

"I love you more." I replied and got out.

I walked up to her door and before I could open it, she had opened it and pulled me into a hug. I dropped my bag and hugged her back.

"You didn't know either did you?" She asked.

"No...never even suspected a thing." I replied.
