Chapter 24

Hayes's pov://

I finished my last problem and looked back at Anna and noticed she was asleep on my bed sitting up still. Wow she must of been tired. Well I am too. I went into my bathroom and brushed my teeth and wet hair from my shower. I went back into my room and walked over to Anna. I carefully laid her down and covered her up on my bed and turned off the lights. I looked downstairs seeing Cam passed out on the couch and laughed quietly at how awkward he was laying. I went back in my room and got a pillow and blanket out of my closet and laid it on the floor. I took off my shirt and laid down on my floor while the girl I loved was in my bed. Maybe things will work out but I just want her to be happy. I fell asleep thinking about her.

Anna's pov://

I woke up in a bed. Hayes's bed. But where is he? I looked in the floor and saw him laying there. Aw. He let me sleep in his bed. I kind of feel bad now. I got up and crouched down beside him tapping his shoulder lightly.

"Sorry. You can have your bed. I'll take the couch." I said quietly.

"Cam's on the couch. It's fine really." He said in a raspy voice.

"Well at least home up here too. I feel bad."

He nodded and got up and we both laid down. I had this feeling that I should've been in his arms but I didn't know why. I mean I have Gwen. Maybe the fact that he couldn't even tell me goodnight was why. Maybe he'll be better tomorrow. I looked up at Hayes seeing him looking at me.

"Can't sleep either?" He asked and I shook my head. "What are you thinking about?" He asked.

"It's nothing." I said looking away.

"No it's not. What's wrong?"

"Gwen." I stated.

"What about him?" He asked.

"He was just being a douche. It doesn't matter. I'll talk to you in the morning." I said and closed my eyes trying to go to sleep.

"Okay goodnight." He whispered.

"Goodnight."

"Get up!" Cam yelled jumping on me and Hayes causing Hayes to fall off the bed.

"Ow." Hayes said and I chuckled and sat my rubbing my eyes.

"Whoops." Cameron said laughing.

"Thanks." Hayes mumbled pushing himself up off of the floor and walking into his bathroom.

"You were sleeping with him?" Cam asked sitting beside me.

"Well I woke up in his bed and he was on the floor and you were on the couch. I felt bad." I shrugged.

"Do you miss him?" Cam blurted.

"Um- no not like that." I studdered.

"Ya you do." He said and I shook my head and heard my phone ding in my waistband of my leggings. That's where my phone was.

I checked it and saw a message from Gwen.

G- Can you come over? I have to tell you something.

A- Sure I'll be there in about half an hour.

I turned my phone off and looked back up at Cam.

"Did he finally text you?" He asked.

"Yes."

"What'd he say?" He asked.

"He said he had to tell me something and I'm going to his house in a little while." I said and got up stretching.

"Okay. I'll be here for a while probrably." He said as we walked out.

I got my bag off the floor and walked back upstairs to Hayes's room while Cam was in Nash's probably dragging him out of bed. I walked in seeing Hayes shirtless changing.

"Whoops. Sorry." I said and turned around.

"It's fine. I wasn't going to put on a shirt anyways." He chuckled.

"Oh. Okay can I use your bathroom?" I asked.

"Sure. Go ahead." He said and I went I this bathroom and shut the door.

I changed into the leggings and oversized sweater I brought with fuzzy socks and uggs. I brushed my hair and brushed my teeth and put mascara on. I walked out of the bathroom and saw Hues sitting on so bed on his phone.

"Bye Hayes. I'll see you later." I said and he looked up.

"See you later." He said and came up to me and hugged me quickly before I left.

Once I got to Gwen's house, I climbed in his window like normal.

"Hey." I said closing the window.

"Hey. Look I'm sorry about how I was acting last night I just... have had a lot on my mind." He said as I stood in front of him.

"It's okay. I understand." I reassured him.

"But there's something I have to tell you." He said and looked down.

"What is it?" I asked.

"So I got a really good scholarship to Texas A&M for football and I think I really want to go there."

"That- that's great. I'm happy for you." I said.

"But.... I'm gonna be so far away from you." He sighed.

"Well yeah. That is a long way away, but everyone always says if you love something let it go."

"No. I can't let you go." He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me to his chest.

"Gwen. Haven't you ever thought about what was going to happen to us when you went to college? How would this ever work?" I asked.

"We-we could make this work." He said and brushed a piece of hair behind my ear looking me in the eyes.

"Long distance never works. No I can't do that." I finally said.

"But I love you. Please. Just give it a chance."

"No. We don't need to get anymore attached to eachother when your just going to leave." I said backing away from him.

Is this the right thing to do. I don't want to fall in love anymore than I am. He's just going to leave and leave me broken hearted.

"No. Anna. Don't do this." He said tears brimming his eyes.

A single tear rolled down my cheek as I spoke the words that broke my heart. "I'm sorry but we can't be together anymore."
