EDIT: I just realised that I haven't done any dedications on this book and so I'm going through and adding them in for those who really deserve it. The first goes to @Kiara786786 for all their comments on nearly every chapter. I read each one of them, even if I don't reply so thank you! I really appreciate them :)
If Kayden had made a list of days he knew he'd never forget; the first time he met Jett would definitely be quite close to the top.
The school hallways were alight with chatter of all different kinds. Some students were quietly whispering about the latest gossip. Others freaked out about assignments due the next period that they hadn't finished. If anything, it was a typical Monday, the scent of cheap coffee and too much cologne trying to cover up the distinctly miserable smell of 'I really don't want to be here' in the air. Kayden was lazily leaning against the cold metal of his locker, arms crossed; as he listened to his friend Mark detail the party he missed on Saturday.
"Man you really should have been there. I mean Lindy was so off her face she..." He suddenly trailed off, dark brown eyes focusing on something behind Kayden.
"Mark? You alright?" Kayden questioned, eyebrows furrowing at his friend.
Mark simply smirked, giving Kayden a knowing look before he muttered "hot new girl alert."
Kayden raised his eyebrows at the words. It was quite unusual for new students to come right in the middle of the third quarter, especially during senior year. His eyes found their way to where Mark's were attempting to subtly point out the new girl.
He was met with her back as she walked past the two of them, her combat boots connecting with the linoleum floor was the only sound she made. He tried to memorise some distinct features so that he could pick her out of the crowd later, like the fact that she was wearing a cropped leather jacket with studs on the shoulders. Or that her long, glossy dark hair swished with her walk.
Though, the only thing he could seem to focus on were her jeans. The denim itself was nothing too impressive but what it clung to was a whole different story. She obviously hit the gym every now and then because there was no way you could get a butt like that just by lounging around. And just like that he made up his mind.
"Dibs," he whispered, hearing his friend swear in response before making his way over to where the new girl had stopped.
She was dumping her books into her locker before reading over and seemingly trying to memorise her timetable. He leaned against the locker next to hers, taking her distraction as an opportunity to check her out from the front. Her skin looked as if it were naturally a deeply tanned colour hinting at a non-Caucasian decent. She had plump pink lips that Kayden found himself focusing on as she bit her bottom lip and—
"Was there something you needed?" She spoke without sparing him a glance.
"Actually, there was beautiful—"
As soon as the last word left his lips her dark eyes finally looked up at him, scrutinising his appearance for a few seconds. "Not interested." She merely responded in a monotone before looking back down at her paper and picking out some books before slipping them into the satchel he only just realised she had.
Kayden blinked, quite shocked at her abruptness. It had been a while since he was so easily shot down and the feeling didn't exactly sit well with him. He went for a different approach.
"Did you need help finding your next class?" He asked, attempting to sound completely innocent. "This is a pretty big school and—"
"I'm sure I'll be fine," she interrupted once more, sounding slightly annoyed with his presence and to his luck, the bell decided to sound. She turned to leave without a backwards glance, looking somewhat relieved.
He didn't exactly want her to go, there was something about her that made him want her to stick around a little longer. It wasn't just because she was hot— okay, it might have been that a little bit— but it was also partly because of her detached manner. He wanted to know more about her, her name even would have been great. Though, thinking back, he probably should have started with introductions instead of diving right in with the whole 'beautiful' thing. He made a mental note for next time.
He grabbed her wrist before she could go, causing her to freeze.
"I'd suggest you take your hand off if you value your face." She threatened, her jaw clenched.
"Listen, babe, I think we got off on the wrong foot. I'm Kayden—" and with those words the last thing he saw was her first connecting with his face.

Did I forget to mention that Jett really doesn't take kindly to boys who don't understand that no means no? To her credit, she did warn him.I'm thinking that these chapters will be a bit shorter than my 'Cursed' ones but we'll see how long that lasts.
Oh and, for those of you who've read cursed, you'd have noticed that I like to attach images of my favourite quotes from the chapters. With Jett I've decided that I wanted to do some rules out of the Assassin's Handbook with little sticky notes where one of the girls has annotated it.
If you enjoyed this, don't forget to comment, vote and share!
Until next time, stay safe and treat yourselves kindly,
Artemis.
