ANOTHER UPDATE???? (Yeah i obviously didn't think this whole updating thing through so don't expect anything else until like next year ;) ) BUT YES YOU GOT IT RIGHT ANOTHER UPDATE. THIS ONE IS IN SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS. SO MERRY CHRISTMAS/HAPPY HOLDAYS TO YOU ALL. Enjoy this short chapter and a really quick sketch of holiday wishes from the gang (can you guess who is who?)

EDIT: I'm sorry but I  added a little to this chapter while reading over it the other day, for those of you who have read it already, it's nothing major, just that Jett wears reading glasses haha

Kayden woke up at precisely 2:54 am on the following Monday morning with an incredible thirst. After a few minutes of blankly staring at the ceiling— and cursing his body for pulling him out of the dream he was having— he heaved himself off of the bed and groggily made his way to the kitchen. The cool laminated wooden floor woke him up slightly but he was still yearning to get back to bed.

Though, what he didn't expect was for the dim yellow light of the kitchen to already be on.

He paused at the doorway, his tired mind not at all prepared for the sight before him. Jett was making her way around the kitchen as the electric kettle boiled, pulling out the needed ingredients for instant coffee while singing softly under her breath. Her hair was mused and she wore an incredibly oversized t-shirt over tiny pyjama bottoms. He felt his breath catch in his throat slightly as he listened to her sing. She wasn't amazing but at the same time she wasn't tone deaf. Her voice was passable but the husky sleepiness in it made it sound a lot more appealing than it normally would have.

"Are you just going to stand there like a creep or did you come to get something?" She asked tiredly without even turning around.

He didn't know how she did it, he was almost certain that he hadn't made a single sound. "What are you doing awake so early?" He asked as he walked to where they kept the glasses.

"I couldn't sleep," she brushed off evasively as the kettle finished boiling the water. She went about adding a concerning number of spoons of instant coffee mix, completely ignoring the milk she had taken out. It seemed like she was preparing to pull three consecutive all-nighters with the amount of caffeine she was planning to ingest.

"Did you even go to sleep in the first place?" He questioned, slightly concerned as she finally put away the coffee mix.

She finally looked up at him, her eyelids slightly droopy, as she said "yeah I did... for a bit." She took a sip of the coffee and grimaced at its most likely bitter taste before adding a dash of milk.

He watched her  move to the kitchen island and take a seat on a stool. She was slumped slightly, forgetting her usual rigid posture.

He filled his glass with water from the filter tap before moving to take a seat on the opposite side of the island, directly across from her. What he found on the counter confirmed his suspicions that she had been awake for quite a while now. An open book lied face down on the counter with a pair of glasses sitting on top.

"Since when do you wear glasses?" Kayden questioned, as she picked up the thick rims and put them back on.

"Since always. I just normally wear contacts," she brushed off, picking her book back up. The cover he could see was tattered, as if the book had been all over the world with her.

The lapsed into silence, as Kayden just watched her read. Jett looked different when it was incredibly early in the morning and she was absorbed in something other than the pressing concerns of a teenage assassin in training. Her face become more relaxed as she read and he could tell the type of scene she was reading but the way she bit her lip in anticipation or grinned in pleasant surprise.
