I'm so used to writing 'Cursed' that I have to constantly remind myself that this main character can see haha but anyway, an early update for chapter 2 because I'm actually really excited about this story!

EDIT: Dedication to @JemmaRyan3 for their consistent comments, I love it when you guys give some feedback even if it's just one line about something you enjoyed because it's actually really motivating so thank you!

-------

A loud 'thump!' reverberated throughout the hallway as the locker door rattled from the impact of Kayden's skull. The remaining stragglers and students rushing in late fell silent as they stared in shock.

For once Kayden didn't register all the attention on him; instead all he could think about was the pain in both his head and his nose. He groaned as he let himself slide down the lockers so that he'd be able to sit on the floor, he was a little less dizzy that way. He felt his eyes stinging with reflex tears and his stomach churning as if he were about to throw up. "I think you broke it," he moaned as his hands flew up to his dripping nose, muffling the sound of his voice.

The words seemed to snap the new girl out of her shocked state as she let out a long and colourful string of curses. "Okay, I definitely miscalculated that one," she muttered as she rummaged through her satchel. He watched her carefully, eyes widening with shock when she pulled out a first aid kit.

Kayden eyed it suspiciously "why do you have one of those?"

She pulled out some tissues and handed them to him "for emergencies, like this." She brushed off as he brought the tissues to his nose to try and stop the bleeding. "Tilt you head forwards, not backwards, and try to pinch your nostrils together to ensure normal clotting." She added in an almost after thought, as if she gave out medical advice every day. She then pulled out a white plastic packet and chucked it to him; making him drop the tissues in order to catch the object.

"This is an instant ice pack," Kayden stared at it like it was some sort of alien substance, "why do you have this?" He sounded like a broken record as he held tissues to his nose with one hand and cracked the ice pack with the other.

The girl just rolled her eyes, crossing her arms and leaning against the locker in quite a similar fashion as he had done earlier. He wasn't quite sure whether her stance was meant to be mocking or not. "I've already answered that." She said simply and for the first time that day, he saw the hint of a smile grace her lips.

He almost smiled back before, of course, remembering that he was supposed to be mad at her.

"Were you expecting to punch someone in the face today?" He questioned. "Though, while we're on the subject," He continued snidely, though some of the effect was lost due to his voice being distorted by the tissues, "what the fuck was that?" He wasn't quite unsure of what to think of her just casually looking down at him, as if it wasn't anything out of the ordinary.

"Also, why do you punch like a heavyweight champion?" He questioned when she didn't reply, looking over her body. Granted, she wasn't short (she was only a few inches shorter than him) and, as he had said before, you could tell she worked out, but there was still no way that she should be able to punch like that.

"To be fair, I did warn you," she said the words so carelessly you would have thought that she had been scolding him for eating too many sweets instead of underestimating her.

"I didn't think you were serious!" He snapped before looking down at the state of his nose. "You just punched me in the face," the disbelief in his tone was overwhelming, as if the situation was just dawning on him. He glared up at her "who the fuck does that?"

"Look, I'm sorry, the locker wasn't meant to be there-"

"You're seriously blaming an inanimate object right now?"

"So I kind of forgot to factor in the distinct possibility that the collision with the locker would worsen the overall damage," she continued on as if he hadn't spoken.

That was when she chose to properly look at him- sprawled on the floor with the waterfall of blood gushing out of his nose, quickly staining the tissues red- and her eyes widened slightly, "we should probably go to the school nurse."

"Thank you for the excellent advice, Miss Obvious," Kayden just muttered back sarcastically.

She rolled her eyes at the attitude and stuck out her hand "here, I'll help you make your way over."

He eyed her hand wearily, wondering whether or not she'd punch him for not listening to her again. Though, she seemed as if she did genuinely want to help. So he just wiped the hand with the least amount of blood on his shirt and let her pull him to his feet. He blinked a little, feeling slightly dizzy, putting his hand out on her arm to balance himself.

"I think there's a slight possibility that you may have a concussion," she pointed out as she slid her arm through his and lead him in the direction of the nurse's office.

"Oh so now you're okay with touching," Kayden muttered bitterly as they slowly made their way down the halls.

"Hey, it was different before. You just wouldn't back off, don't you know that no means no." She replied, the annoyance back in her tone. She wasn't looking at him, instead she kept her eyes focused straight ahead.

"I was actually just going to ask for your name," he said, tone mimicking her own.

"And you started that with 'listen, babe'?" She questioned sceptically, not at all looking like she believed him. Her eyebrows were raised, dark eyes daring him to justify that as her lush lips pursed slightly, waiting for his response.

"Yeah, well..." he trailed off as they stopped at the wooden door to the nurse's office, finally realising something. "Wait a sec, you're new, how did you know the way here?"

She shrugged as she let go of his arm, "I got here early today so I could familiarise myself with the place," she said flippantly.

He raised an eyebrow, not sure whether to believe her. Though, he wasn't really in the mood to ask so instead he just turned to knock on the door, peaking through the little glass window to see if anyone was actually in there. He heard her say that she hoped he felt better soon. Though, when he turned to reply to her, she was already gone.

'Oh, great, so the new girl is basically Batman.'

Close Kayden, close, but not quite.
