Super unedited as my brain is kinda fried from exams. Still, I hope you enjoy!
"Where are Jett and Jazz?"
Kayden looked up from where he was reading to find Jinx's head poking into his room from the hallway. Her lips were jutted out in a small pout and her dark eyebrows furrowed at whatever she was looking at on her laptop screen.
"Interrogating some drug dealers, why?"
Jinx looked up at him, biting on her lip a little before finally saying "I found our kidnapper." Instead of her usual self-satisfied grin her expression remained confused as if the find wasn't something to celebrate.
"Isn't that a good thing?" Kayden questioned hesitantly as he put the book down, narrowing his eyes a little at Jinx's demeanour.
"I'm not quite sure," she muttered as she made her way into his room, "it would be if he weren't dead... has been for about two years now."
Kayden raised an eyebrow at that as Jinx sat down next to him on his bed. At any other time he would have really appreciated her tight tank top and short shorts but he found himself more distracted by the newspaper article she had up on her screen.
"Well, he's definitely toned down a bit," Kayden observed raising his eyebrows at the photo, thinking of the lanky looking guy in Chelsea's photo. "Are you sure this is the right guy?"
"Well, not 100% but I'm pretty confident," Jinx admitted before adding "that's the best you're going to get in this business."
'So we're trying to find a kidnapper who may or may not be dead,' Kayden thought with a frown. For some reason he wasn't as shocked as he thought he'd be. Still...
"I don't get it, so you're telling me that now we're tailing ghosts?" Kayden questioned incredulously, turning away from the supposedly dead Blake Woods' face.
"I don't think so, I just think that whatever this is it's a lot bigger than we initially thought it was."

Kayden was in the middle of furiously making his way through numerous practice questions before there was a knock on his bedroom door. He paused, immediately shaken out of the semi-trance he had been in as he had methodically moved through each of the questions with almost-ease. Thanks to Jett's help, he actually understood what he was doing and it was something quite liberating. Especially with the fact that he had a quiz the next day and really wanted to show his smug calculus teacher that he wasn't as stupid as she originally thought.
The knocking sound came again before he finally acknowledged it, curious as to what anyone could want from him at that time of the night.
Jett poked her head, eyebrows raised as she took in all the papers scattered over his desk. The warm yellow light of his small lamp illuminated her sharp features as he met he bottomless eyes. The bruising on her face had begun to look less aggravated, though it was still quite prominent and he knew that it would be a long time before it disappeared completely. Much Like the patchy mess that was his arm after Shanks's knife. Subconsciously he ran his fingers over the scabbed over skin wondering how he'd explain it to his mother when he saw her again.
