Super unedited and gosh this chapter was so long I had to cut an entire scene out! Enjoy

Half an hour later he found himself sitting in the living room trying to force his way through his calculus homework. To say it was torture would be an understatement. He kept getting the rules muddled up and forgetting to differentiate certain variables and it was starting to give him a headache. He was just about ready to prove that the derivative of his homework sheet was confetti.

"Put something on that you'd wear to the gym," Jett suddenly commanded as she strolled into the living room. Sometimes he wished she knew how to start conversations like a normal person. What was wrong with 'hey Kayden, are you still thinking of ways to fake your death so you'll never have to do calculus again?' Instead of just walking in and throwing out commands as if they were money and he was a hard working stripper.

"Busy," Kayden replied as he chewed on his pencil, more to annoy Jett than because he didn't want to go anywhere with her.

She sighed "right. School is still a thing." She muttered in annoyance, making her way over to where he was sitting.

"Why did you even enrol in the school? Jazz and Jinx didn't," he asked curiously, putting down his pencil and turning his attention to her.

She shrugged "what better way to find out what's causing teens to go missing than to enrol into the place that they spend a vast majority of their time. You'd be surprised at the kind of gossip you can find in a high school. Besides, I need Jazz and Jinx to do the outside work I can't do because I'm stuck in that glorified torture institution."

It was probably the most she had ever said to him in one go and all he could do was nod in return. Not quite sure how to continue the conversation.

Surprisingly, Jett took care of it for him.

"What homework are you doing?" She asked, eyes moving to his page.

He sighed "calculus," the word itself was groaned as he looked back down at his paper with vague distress.

She sat next to him on the arm of the sofa as she scanned the page filled with seemingly endless homework questions. He watched as she sat there with her lips slightly pursed, eyebrows drawn together, no doubt trying to see if she could figure out all the answers in her head.

Kayden felt a small smile grace his lips and he hoped to God that she was too entranced to notice his staring. As soon as he realised what he was doing he mentally shook himself. If he had known that Jett's looks would pose a distraction to him he never would have spoken to her that first day.

'Sure, Kayden, that's definitely it.'

Her eyes then moved to his answer sheet and her saw her frown slightly "you got number five wrong."

Kayden just groaned, burying his head into his hands in frustration.

"When's it due?" She asked

He let out a breath and peeked out at her through his fingers "Wednesday."

"You have plenty of time. I'll help you out later if you like; right now I need you to come with me." She said, standing back up and brushing imaginary dust off of her sweat pants.

He massaged his temples as he eyed his homework, secretly relieved to have an excuse to escape.

"Alright, what did you need again?"

"Gym clothes on and meet me outside by the motorbike. Bring a jacket, it gets cold on the bike no matter how hot the weather is."
