 "I've found something!"

Jinx hadn't left her room since they had found out about their ghost kidnapper. Not too long after Jazz and Jett had gotten back and she'd given them a short debrief she retreated to her room mumbling something about 'tracking' and 'face scanners.' Since then the only sounds that they had heard from her to validate that she was still alive were the occasional frustrated groans and curse words that she let out.

Jazz had taken it upon herself to ensure that she remained properly nourished and periodically delivered takeaway and snacks to her door, being quickly ushered out because she was allegedly a disturbance to Jinx's concentration. While Jazz played mum, Jett was left to play the role of the bad cop. Meaning that she was the one who had to put her life on the line and confiscate the laptop at about 3 am each morning to make sure that Jinx didn't pull consecutive all-nighters—to which Jinx quite convincingly argued was an act of "unfair and unjust hypocrisy."

To sum it up: It had been about 3 days since they had seen Jinx out of her little hideout which meant that her shouted words had definitely come to a shock to all of them.

Kayden nearly jumped at the sudden sound of her voice before he looked up from where he and Jett were sitting on the mustard couch. The two had been in the same position for hours, Jett sat on one end of the couch, one of her elbows propped on the armrest holding up her head while the other propped a book up before her reading glasses clad face. Kayden found his long limbs stretched out across the opposite end, using her lap as a leg rest. The two didn't even acknowledge each other. Jett was too busy pretending to be too absorbed in her book to shove him off while Kayden pretended to be too captivated with his own paper back to stare at her engrossed features.

Jazz was left to lie down by herself on the obnoxiously red couch, playing her own game of pretend. Though, in her case, she had to pretend that she was napping rather than coming up with the names for her friends' children— she decided that Jazz Alexandra the Second was a perfectly reasonable option.

Jett's glasses caught the light as she looked up at Jinx with a raised eyebrow.

The blue haired girl took that as her cue to continue.

"Okay, so," Jinx started as she moved to where Jazz was lying down. Without second thought she perched herself on the red heads back.

Jazz didn't say anything but acknowledged the movement with a half-hearted glare.

"It seems that our ghostly friend had previously dug himself into quite a large money owing pit as a result of a drug addiction." Jinx revealed, practically glowing under their expectant stares. "And obviously he didn't have the means to pay back this debt if he had to fake his own death."

"But did he fake his death to get away from the person he owes money to or to pay them back?" Jett mused, gaze flicking to Kayden to see what he thought of the idea.

He could only offer a shrug in return before there was more talking.

"Do you know anything else? Like who he owed money to because that could be a little helpful." Jazz suggested, not even bothering to attempt to make eye contact with Jinx but rather addressing her question to the coffee table.

Jinx grinned, "well, whoever he owed covers their tracks like nobody's business."

"But?" Kayden prompted, not understanding the smile. What she had just said was technically bad news... right?
