Kayden woke up the next morning at 7:00, relishing in how nice it felt to be back in his own room.
The dormitories at the facility for the 'America's Future Leaders' thing had been nice, of course, but very few things were more comfortable than being in your own bed. Though, a small part of him did miss waking up on the common room's couch after sneaking out for a movie marathon with Jett.
'Jett...'
She had left just as abruptly as she had arrived, her father's business demanding another move. He had managed to put it off enough for her to finish the Future Leader's Program but not any longer. He kind of wished he had remembered to get her number or something though wasn't too devastated about it. She had been more of a summer fling than an actual girlfriend anyway.
He brushed away any thoughts of her, his mind occupying itself with other things as he got ready. Like where he had put his calculus homework. Or why he hadn't heard from Mark in what felt like a week.
And, most pressingly, why his favourite sweater had seemingly disappeared from his wardrobe.
