Chapter 13

I sat on my bed in my new room.. It was small but at least I had my own ensuite. I picked up my scratched headband. Memories instantly came rushing back to me.. of Naruto, Temari and .. Kankuro.. How he had defended my honour, how he was always the one to catch me when I fell and.. No! I threw the headband into the far corner of the room. I was a rogue ninja now I didn't need emotional ties to others.. it would only be a weakness for my enemies to target. I left my room eager to train. The hallway was full of closed doors.. how many members were in this thing? I made my way out into the loungeroom where Itachi and Konan were sitting with some weird shark guy. *BANG! "I'm going to kill you Tobi un!" A guy wearing an orange mask came whirling past me and hid behind the couch. *SMACK! I was shoved to the ground from behind. "Watch where your going un!" I looked up at the blonde haired ninja who knocked me over "Watch your mouth.. What are you anyways" He had stopped hunting for the masked menice 'Tobi' and turned to me angrily. Konan was giggling and Tobi appeared from behind the couch and started skipping around blondey in circles "Deidara-sempai! Pretty new girl doesn't know that you are a boy!" Deidara swung at Tobi but he dodged and kept on skipping around him like a child. "More to the point.. What is that?" I pointed at the masked idiot who stopped circling Diedara and started circling me .. great. "I is Tobi!! And Tobi is a good boy! What is pretty lady's name? Is pretty lady a strong ninja?" I stopped listening to his incessant rambling and returned Diedara's glare. He pulled out some sort of clay before turning and heading to what I assumed was the training grounds. I smirked at the thought of a challenge and followed with Tobi and the other members in hot pursuit. The arena was like a big oval but the grass had been ripped up and brown dirt covered the surface. "I won't go easy on you un just because your a girl" He stood on the opposite side of the arena, hands shoved into his pouches. "I don't go easy on girls either" Tobi and Konan erupted in laughter from the sidelines causing Deidara to erupt with anger and he began throwing little clay birds around. "Art is an EXPLOSION!" Bombs? What the crap.. I barely had enough time to evade them all. As I landed on my feet he sent several more at me "Right that's it!" I quickly did handsigns and the bombs were taken away by a gush of water. "My turn!" I allowed the markings to take over my body once more and wings erupted from my back. I looked over at a stunned Deidara who was fumbling around in his pouches again but with my sharigan I knew what his next moves were even before he did them. I easily got the upper hand and kicked him to the ground. I drew my katana and placed it gently on the surface of his skin where his heart was beating only centimetres below. I chuckled before pushing my full force down. Instead of blood I seen a whirl of red and black and I tumbled to the ground landing beneath the idiot who just tackled me. "Pretty lady can't kill Deidara-sempai!" "Get off me you idiot!" I looked up to his mask where one of his eyes was showing.. the sharingan.. shit so this was the Uchiha. He gave me a look that meant 'we will talk about this later' before getting up and playfully running over to where Deidara lay and helped him to sit up. "What are you?!" I stood up ignoring Deidara's comment and retracted the curse mark along with my wings and sharingan. I could feel Itachi's piercing stare from the sidelines and I quickly left the arena and headed to my room.

Moments later the door to my room burst open, thankfully Tobi was not the cause. Itachi closed the door and sat next to me on the bed. It didn't matter if he wanted me dead, I had no more reasons to live.. he would just be doing me a favour. He snickered as if he could hear my thoughts "So it seems I missed an Uchiha" I smirked at the irony.. oh if only he knew just how many Uchiha's he had missed.. For some reason my mind went back to the office with 'Tobi' and the pain I endured. Obviously my body was telling me that revealing just how many Uchihas Itachi had missed was a bad idea. "Whats your name?" I shifted uncomfortably next to him on the bed "Mikio" A few moments past between us and the awkward silence was becoming unbearable. "How is Sasuke?" I furrowed my eyebrows.. he cares about his brother? "Well we didn't talk much.. but he seems to be powerful I guess.." Before he even had a chance to reply the blue shark guy opened the door and said something about an urgent mission. I knew exactly what was going on.. a decoy -.- drat. As soon as Itachi had left the room I felt a powerful presence standing on the other side of my bed. I turned and there he was 'Tobi'.. but not the idiot Tobi.. the deadly Tobi.. the difference was unmistakable. "You still haven't told me who you are" He turned around and made his way infront of me. I looked up at his orange mask and for once his sharingan wasn't activated. He was staring, but not directly at me.. I followed his gaze and realized that my shirt had slipped revealing my curse mark. I tried to cover it with my shirt but he put his hand on top of mine as he leant over to get a better look. "Had a run in with Orochimaru have you?" I nodded as he inspected the mark. Without a word he turned and left the room. What just happened there.. I stood up and walked to my door, leaning against the frame.. "Oh hey Mikio" It was weird hearing someone call me by my real name I didn't answer. Konan wave her hand infront of my face to get a response "Oh hey there.. Konan" She smiled before handing me my new akatsuki robe and telling me that we were going on a mission. I quickly chucked on the robe and followed her out the base and into the forest.

"So where are we going?" She kept walking and pointed towards a village in the distance "Sometimes its nice to get out of that cave.. its to much testosterone" I giggled but stopped "Wait, someone will recognise us?!" She shook her head "Nah the akatsuki pretty much owns this village.. they would never sell us out" We finally made it into the village where Konan was treated like a god. Everywhere we turned people were bowing and throwing free food our way. We sat on a roof eating dango and watching the villagers down below scurry about like ants. It was nice to have someone in the akatsuki to talk to. Before we knew it the sky turned a deep blue "shit!" Konan jumped up and started running across the rooftops. I caught up to her with ease "What's the matter?" "Leader-sama doesn't know we are out here" My eyes opened, wide with fear at the thought of another torture session with Tobi. By the time we reached the entrance to the hideout it was pitch black outside and we climbed through my window as an extra precaution. We giggled at our success once we were safely inside my room.. that was until the light turned on and we were face to face with Tobi. "Well I'm going to go check on Pain" I glared at Konan as she left the room without so much as a glance over her shoulder and shut the door.. some friend.
