I stared at the ceiling above me.. the bed wasn't comfortable but it would do. I didn't intend to stay here forever.. after gaining power I was going back to the akatsuki to protect Itachi and confront Madara. At the top of my list was kill Kabuto.. but with Orochimaru-sama around that would be near impossible.. perhaps I should kill him too. Then there was the problem of Sasuke.. how would he react if I killed sensei? Not to mention his plans of revenge.. over my dead body would he ever touch Itachi. First I really needed to train and master new jutsu.. I left my room and headed outside to practice. If I was to vs Sasuke I couldn't let him know what I was capable of..

I set up numerous targets in a clearing before taking out my shuriken and pin-pointing every single one. I retrieved my katana and proceeded to hack at a tree before growing bored and blasting it with a fireball. I sensed a chakra in a nearby tree and quickly replaced myself with a shadow clone and stood behind my audience with a kunai to his throat. As I pushed the tip of my kunai into his neck he vanished.. what a clone?! Sasuke appeared behind me and pinned me to the tree. I blushed at the proximity of our bodies, his warm breath tickled my neck. "WATER STYLE: WATER DRAGON JUTSU" I felt his breath catch in his throat. Seconds later he was taken away in a gush of water. I jumped down smuggly but when the water disappeared there was no sign of him.. shit. I tried to sense his chakra but he was better at concealing it than Madara. I activated my sharingan but still no sign of him.. how could he just vanish? I felt the tiniest bit behind me and caught his leg before it connected. We were locked in hand to hand combat, sharingans activated and no sign of letting up. I tripped him up but he fell on top of me and our bodies met once more. A throat cleared and we both looked up to see Kabuto. We scrambled apart "Lord Orochimaru wishes to see the both of you" and with that he disappeared. I groaned before getting to my feet and heading towards the hideout with Sasuke in tow. Our footsteps echoed through the halls but not a single word was spoken. "I have heard news that akatsuki have been spotted a few villages away and although I doubt they will find our hideout I want you to be on alert." "Hai Orochimaru-sama".

Weeks passed and sightings of the akatsuki slowly diminished. I sat on the grass, the gentle breeze flowing through my raven locks. "Long time no see.." I looked into the tree above me and seen the familiar red and black robe swaying in the wind. He joined me on the ground and we met in a short embrace. "Itachi nii-san its good to see you again. How did Madara react?" "I came here to give you something.." It was obvious he didn't come on a social visit.. typical Itachi. "When you need it most this will aid you.. Before I go you must promise to protect Sasuke" "nii-san I don't understand.. Why do I need to protect Sasuke" He ignored me and meerly pressed his fingers to my forehead before disappearing into the wind. Sometimes he made no sense..
