JOHNS POV

"Did he say anything? Who he was? What he wanted?" Katy asked nervously, desperately looking for answers. Hoping that her mother could ease her mind by giving her more details but she had none.

I pulled katy backwards until she hit my chest and sunk into my embrace. Her mother was giving us a puzzled look, probably wondering why she was acting like this. I knew katy didn't want to make a big scene, so she slowly approached her mom, dragging me behind her.

She shakily reached her hand out to grab the phone, almost acting as if it were hot and would burn her to touch it. "It's probably nothing." I whispered in her ear, also trying to convince myself that we were just overreacting. We were finally 100% happy and then this had to happen..

"Hello?" She answered as she looked up at me, simultaneously biting her lip. She fumbled with my shirt with her free hand as she waited for a response but got none. "Hello?" She asked again as I bent my head down to listen as well and heard nothing but silence on the other end.

"There's no one there.." She said confused as she handed the phone back to her mom. I wish I could say I was happy but I was far from it. We still didn't know if he was out or not, or where he was, or if that was even him. I knew katy was feeling the same way because she had an uneasy look on her face ever since she hung up.

"Maybe we should just go home babe.." I said, wrapping my arm around her waist, wanting to just go home and relax for once. At least there I felt like I could protect her. She wasn't a walking target.. she was safe inside the walls of our house, with me. I cast a few glances around the yard making sure he wasn't anywhere to be seen.. because if it was him he knew exactly where we were.

"John.. baby cmon lets go." Katy said interrupting me from my search as I grabbed her hand. I led her through the yard saying our goodbyes to everyone we passed, happy that no one else knew what was going on and didn't make a big deal out of it. Because it might not be a big deal.. but I do know that I was more paranoid than ever now.

I led her through the house, neither of us saying a word to each other as we finally made it to the front door. Katy opened it a few inches before I quickly slammed it shut.

"John-"

"I just want you to stay really close to me when we walk to the car.... " I whispered resting my fingertips on her waist as her facial expression went from shocked to soft in a matter of seconds.  If he was outside I wasn't risking it.

"Okay, Mr. bodyguard." She teased even though we both knew this wasn't really a joking matter. I chuckled at her and bent down to kiss her before opening the door and stepping outside. I clung onto her for dear life as we walked down the brick driveway. It was pitch black other than the little lights outlining the driveway as we approached my car, and the most uneasy feeling was settling in my stomach as I realized I couldn't see anything on the other side of us. Nothing.

We stayed silent as we continued on the path to my car. The only thing to be heard was the sound of katys boots clicking off the pavement and her occasional shaky breathing. I knew she felt uncomfortable and I don't blame her. What she went through was traumatic, and to know that it could happen at any given moment must be the worst feeling ever bestowed upon a person.

"You know nothing will happen as long as I'm here right?" I said looking down at her with a smile on my face.. letting her know that she had nothing to worry about.

"I know that baby but it's you I'm worried about." She admitted, letting a tear roll down her soft cheeks, quickly wiping it away. We had finally reached the car and I opened the door for her, making sure she got in safely before I went over to the drivers side and started the car. I quickly reversed out of the driveway, wanting to get out of there as quickly as possible. Once we got back on the road again, I brought up what she had said earlier.
