Blue runs across the hallway, feeling a sense of failure, looking for the others. She wasn’t able to capture the stone from Suzy, and didn’t even find out if she had it or not.
Hopefully one of the others managed to capture it. Blue thinks and feels a wave of hope come across her. One of them…one of them has had to! Blue pleads in her head.
“Blue, over here,” someone calls out.
Blue looks to the side to see Katelyn. She runs over to her. “Where are the others?” she asks.
“In the cafeteria,” Katelyn explains. “Well, both Red and Amber are. I don’t know where Violet is yet.”
Blue nods and they start walking towards the cafeteria. “Did you get the stone?” she then asks.
Katelyn doesn’t nod or shake her head. Instead she says, “We’ll discuss that in the cafeteria and once I find Violet.” She says.
Blue nods and turns away from Katelyn.
The two girls then reach the cafeteria in silence. Blue looks over and spots Red and Amber, and notices that Violet is already there. Red is talking to them both, and shakes her head.
The cafeteria is completely empty, on both floors. The staff isn’t in the room to clean up, but they probably already did anyway. The cream colored floor is spotless and the brown tables and shining in the light too.
Katelyn walks up to the group and Blue follows behind her. “Hey,” she says.
Blue scans the girls and notices that they don’t have the stone. Their hands are bare, and they look pretty upset. Does that mean we lost the stone? Blue thinks.
Red looks at them. “Hey,” she says, with a hint of disappointment in her tone.
“Okay, so progress reposts. Tell me what happened.” Katelyn says folding her arms onto her chest.
Red sits down on the table. “Well, they knew we were there. Well, Jami at least,” Red says.
“But did you get the stone? Do you have it?” Blue asked, feeling hopeful.
Red shakes her head. “No,” she mumbles.
Blue’s heart sinks. Well, hopefully Violet, Amber, or Katelyn managed to capture it.
“What happened then?” Katelyn asks.
Red sighs. “Well, I was following her but she knew I was because apparently Jami could see the invisible.” Red explains. “Jami had the stone, and she taunted me with it. She refused to give it to me.”
“What?” Blue shrieks. “But I thought…I thought that Jami and Lucy were going to help us…”
“Well they were lying.” Red snarls. “I managed to get my hands on the stone, but once I had it, Jami transported it away. I thought I had it for sure because I attacked her and ended up beating her pretty badly, but I guess I was wrong.”
“Oh…” Blue says.
“What about you Blue?” Violet asks.
Embarrassment fills Blue. “Well…” she starts. “I was following Suzy, but I made a noise my accident, and she turned around and caught me. She then yelled at me for snooping around, and I got scared so I ran. I never figured out if she had it or not.” Blue admits and bites her lip. She looks at Katelyn who just nods, but doesn’t say anything.
“Do you have it Violet?” Blue asks.
Violet shakes her head, “Nope. I was following Lucy and asked her about it when she caught me. She said that she hardly knew anything about the stone because Jami didn’t tell her about it, afraid that Lucy might spill it to us.”
“Oh,” is all Blue manages to say.
“I nearly had it…” Amber mutters, forming her hand into a fist. “I was following Janelle, and it appeared out on nowhere while we were fighting. Janelle caught it, and then tripped me when I tried to grab it. I fell to the floor and she paralyzed me so I couldn’t move, and that’s how she made her escape, with the stone in her hand.”
“Bummer,” Violet says and sits on the table next to Red.
Katelyn shakes her head. “Mrs. Bloom didn’t have it either. When she left the room to use the bathroom, I checked all over the class room and her bag for it or anything else suspicious. But there was nothing. So I left before she came back.” Katelyn says.
“Should we try to take them again?” Amber asks.
Before Katelyn could say anything, Blue shakes her head. “No, we shouldn’t.” the girls look at her. “They now know we are after it, so they’ll attack us, making sure we don’t get it. They’ll do anything to protect it, I’m sure of it. I don’t think it’s worth it.”
Katelyn pats Blue’s back. “Blue here has a point. We can risk our lives, I’m sure of it.” She says, and Blue nods. “You know, for a ten year old, you sure are smart.”
“Thanks,” Blue blushes and looks onto the floor. “Thanks…” she repeats.
“But…don’t we need the stone?” Red asks.
Katelyn shakes her head. “No we don’t need it, we have the other four but…” she says trailing off.
“But what,” Amber asks.
“The evil girls have it. But we can’t get it from them. I just— I don’t know what to do. I’m sorry, but I really don’t.”
“It’s okay,” Blue says looking up at her. “Like you said, we don’t need it. We have the four others. Now all we need to do is use them on the stone pillar.”
Katelyn grins. “Right,” She says. “So remember, next week on Friday. There is a plain field by the place Blue caught her stone. That’s where we will meet. Make sure you are there at Midnight, no later.” Katelyn says.
The girls nod. Blue bites her lip and nods her head again.
“And then from there, you’re on your own. I trust that you can do this.” Katelyn says and holds out her hand.
“Right,” Blue says and puts her hand on top of Katelyn’s. “We can do this.”
“Right,” Red says, repeating Blue and places her hand on Blue’s.
“Got it,” Violet says and places down her hand.
Amber then nods and puts her hand down.
We will be ready. Blue thinks and smiles.
