It is the third day of school already. Nothing has really happened the other days, just talking about upcoming school events and such, the same old same old boring stuff like every year in the beginning of school.

Violet is at home, in the kitchen getting ready for school. Her mom already took her sisters to their school and her dad is off at work. It’s just Violet and her brother. Violet finishes up her breakfast and looks at the time. It’s seven fifty-six. School starts at eight fifteen. “Come on Drake, hurry up or we’re going to be late!” Violet yells towards her brother who is probably up in his room.

“I’m coming, I’m coming. Just wait for me in the car, I’ll be there soon.” Drake yells from up stairs.

Violet grunts as she grabs her bag and walks out the front door. She walks outside and a mixture of warm and cool air hits her. She walks towards her brother’s car, opens the door to the front seat, and sits down after throwing her book bag in the back seat.

Five minutes pass until her brother finally decides to show up. Violet glares at him as he sits down and closes the door.

“What took so long? We are going to be late!” She yells. “I can’t afford to be late on the third day, on the first week!” Violet yells sitting up.

“Sorry, I just had to get something.” Drake says and starts the car. He puts his book bag in the back, and drives off to the school campus.

“I’m going to be late because of you!” Violet yells once again. Her tone is harsh. Violet hates being late, and hardly ever is. She doesn’t want to start off the year with a late pass on the first week.

Drake pulls up to the school parking lot and parks the car. Violet unbuckles her seat belt and thrusts the door open.

“Whoa, calm down,” Drake says getting out.

Violet looks at him and slams the door shut. She then opens the back door and grabs her book bag, and tosses Drake his. “I’ll see you later,” she says. “Gotta run.” She then turns around on her heel and runs towards the entrance of the school.

After signing in, she runs into the hallways and runs into the elevator and pushes the button to the third floor. The elevator doors finally open and Violet runs through the hall way, and into the class room.

“Sorry I’m late!” Violet yells as she runs into the class room. She is eyed by the students. Violet tries her best to ignore it and she makes her way towards her seat. She places her bag down and sits in her seat.

Red leans over to her. “What took you so long?” she asks.

“My brother,” Violet mumbles. “He took forever to get ready. So, what did I miss?”

“Mrs. Bloom was about to tell us something, it’s apparently exciting and it’s something we have to do with our group.” Red says.

Before Violet can respond, Mrs. Bloom begins to speak, “Anyway, now that Violet finally decided to show up, I can share the big news.”

Violet grows tense at her teacher’s harsh remark, but she decides to let it go. She eyeballs the kids around her in her class watching her teacher, all waiting, and the younger ones bobbing in their seats.

Violet turns towards her group rolling her eyes, “It’s going to be the science fair project. What else? We have it every year, pretty obvious.”
