Winter break is over. Two months since Violet’s birthday, so basically two months since school started. Now it is January, the fifth, a Thursday.

Red walks into the class room. Recently finding out that they have lost the amber stone with no clue where it went, it leaves her stressed, especially knowing that they still haven’t found the Blue stone either.

“Hi Red,” Blue says as Red sits down next to her.

Red nods to her and puts down her bag. “Hi Blue,” she says. She looks at Amber who apparently bothered to show up today, “Hi Amber.”

Amber looks up at her and nods. She then puts her head down and doesn’t say anything.

“God Amber, stop moping about Drake.” Red says annoyed. “It has been two freaking months!”

Amber looks up again and glares. “I don’t care.” She says, her voice sounding a little horse.

Blue looks at Red. “Well, those are the first words she’s said in a while.” Blue says.

Red nods in agreement. Amber hasn’t really said a thing since her breakup. The only talking she does is small talk and everyone is worrying about her. “Any sign of the amber stone yet?” she asks.

Amber and Blue both shake their heads.

Red sighs. “What about the blue stone,” she then asks, but most likely the answer will be no.

Just as Red predicted the two girls shake their heads and Red sighs.

“Alright class, let’s begin reviewing math.” Mrs. Bloom says walking up in the front of the class. She takes out an expo marker and begins writing some math problems on the white bored.

Oh great, another day to review for our exams that begin next week. Red thinks and sighs. She looks up at Mrs. Bloom and rests her head on her hand.

About two hours into the math review, class is interrupted with Violet running in.

“Sorry I’m late!” she says walking in.

“There are no excuses for being late young lady.” Mrs. Bloom says and stands up tall.

Red sees Violet sigh with frustration. She takes something out of her back pocket and hands it to Mrs. Bloom.

“I’m late because I had a stupid meeting about the Spelling Bee for the state.” Violet says. “You said that if I’m late because it’s something to do with the Spelling Bee, it wouldn’t count.”

Mrs. Bloom sighs. “Yes yes, I know what I said. Now, go to your seat and sit down and let me continue the math review. Take notes from a friend or something.”

Violet nods and walks over to her seat and takes out her pencil and math note book and begins to take notes off the bored, ignoring the notes Amber slid to her.

Violet was invited to join the states Spelling Bee after she won the schools and cities Spelling Bee in late November and middle December. Winning first place in both, she was invited to represent Jacksonville for the states Spelling Bee, and of course she took it.

Because of this, Violet has been late to class many times and has also missed a few days which annoys Red because the four of them need to find the amber and blue stone. And with Amber in her condition and Violet always busy, it’s like they are never going to get it done.
