Emma, Regina, and Ruby spent the night at Ruby's house. They were getting ready for the last day of high school. Robin, Victor, and Killian weren't taking it as seriously as the girls were though.
"What are the guys even doing?" Regina asked while applying eyeliner.
"I think they are playing basketball." Emma said.
"That sucks. They're going to be sweaty for when they get to the auditorium." Regina said.
Emma and Ruby shrugged. "You know. Guys." Ruby said.
The girls laughed and finished getting ready. Afterwards, they jumped into Emma's bug and were on their way to the school.
"What made you pick yellow?" Regina asked.
"I don't know. I think it's cute." Emma said with a smile.
Ruby was in the passenger seat, Emma was driving, and Regina was sitting in the middle in the back. Ruby was staring at the rear view mirror when a pickup truck with three familiar faces pulled up behind the little yellow bug. Ruby started laughing.
"Regina, Emma, look behind us." Ruby said.
Emma looked at the mirror and Regina turned around.
Killian, Robin, and Victor were standing in the back of the truck, waving their hands and whipping their heads. It looked like Victor's brother was driving.
"They're retarded!" Emma yelled glancing between the road and the mirror.
"And made you miss the turn for the school!" Ruby said.
Emma quickly recovered and made a U-turn for the school. When she pulled into the parking lot, all three of the girls piled out, but each of the guys quickly picked them up and placed them on their shoulders.
Emma kept hitting Killian's head. "Put me down Jones!" But it didn't seem to be a joke.
"Aren't some boys excited to get out of high school?" Regina said sarcastically.
"You know it! Then we get to college. College is were parties happen." Victor said.
"Killian, seriously, you need to put me down." Emma said.
"What's the matter Swan? Scared of heights?" Killian asked jokingly. When she stayed quiet, he picked her up and put her down. "Sorry."
"It's okay. I should have told you before."
After she was on the ground, he picked her up again, but bridal style. "Is this better?" He asked with a smirk.
Emma nodded. They walked into the school, and headed to the auditorium. They went backstage and saw every senior in their graduation gowns. They picked theirs up from the many tables that were set up that had the purple and black fabrics on it.
"You look cute Killian." Emma whispered in his ear.
He turned around and hugged her. "You look gorgeous."
"Alright you kids!" A stage crew member yelled. "We go on in five. Listen for your names to be called, then walk out onto the stage. Remember to smile, prepare your speeches, and look good for your parents!" With that, she walked off.
Emma tensed up at the word parents, or family. She didn't have anyone. She was alone. Killian felt her stiffen underneath his arms. He gripped her tighter.
"Don't worry love. They are watching you today." He said trying to make her feel better.
Emma sniffed and tears began forming in her eyes. She looked down at her shoes. "It doesn't feel like it." She said with a fake smile and laugh.
"They are, and I bet they are very proud of you."
Emma wiped a tear away and looked back up at him. "Thanks for trying to make me feel better."
He kissed both of her cheeks then went to her lips. "After this is over, we are going to have to pack." He said once he pulled away.
"We don't have to leave until the beginning of August." Emma said.
"It would be nice to get to know the area."
Emma rolled her eyes and she was called out. Killian was after her. After speeches, everyone went out to find their parents, but Emma stayed back. There was no parents to find. Killian walked around trying to find his mom. He thought that Emma was trailing behind him, but he was dead wrong.
"Emma love, do you see her?" Killian asked looking at the tops of people's heads, and glimpses of faces. When there was no respond, he looked behind him, and there was empty space. "Where the bloody hell are you Swan." He said looking for her and his mother.
Emma was in the bathroom fixing her makeup, but all she wanted to do was go home. Prom hadn't hit her as hard as graduation did, and her wedding was going to be even worse. She turned to go out when her phone began buzzing in her pocket. Moving the gown over, Emma slid the answer button over to listen to Killian's voice talking to her.
"Swan! Where are you? I can't find you anywhere!" He said over the sound of talking voices.
Now standing in the hallway, Emma responded. "In front of the girls bathroom."
Taking the phone off of his ear, he went to find Emma. He hung up when he had her in sight.
"There you are!" He said hugging her.
"Here I am." She said awkwardly.
"You ready to go home?"
Emma nodded and linked her arm into his. They walked out of the school and went home. He brought in a stack of boxes and they began putting the less important stuff together.
"Have you found an apartment love?" Killian asked trying to tear off a piece of tape.
Emma waddled over on her knees and tore the tape off with no problem. "Yes I did. I have directions too."
He nodded. "When are we going to go see it?"
"I was thinking about tomorrow. The owner of the complex has everything set up. All we have to do is sign some papers. She said that our first month is a graduation gift, and that we don't have to pay."
Killian nodded and they finished packing the small trinkets, games, and movies.
"What time is the alarm set for?" He asked climbing into bed.
"5:00. We have a long way to go to get to Ohio." Emma said.
"And the time for the showing?"
"3:30."
"And the time now?"
"Sleepy time." Emma said with a smile. She could feel Killian's 'Be serious' look so she stated the real time. "It's 10:30 now."
He nodded, gave her a kiss on the cheek before they both fell into a deep, peaceful sleep, unaware of the uninvited guest that was coming along. Once again, the silent clicking of the camera button and the flash went off in the street.
