Saturday came faster than expected. Ruby, Robin, Killian, and Emma all walked to Regina's house. It was a huge mansion with at least five bedrooms. The yard was littered with people and garbage. The trees in the backyard had a bunch of lights strung in the branches, and a few speakers were set up playing music. The entire twelfth grade was there and a lot of noise was being cast. It was a miracle that the cops hadn't been called yet.
"What to do first?" Emma asked.
"Duh, what do you think happens at parties? You drink!" Ruby shouted excitedly. They all went over to where the alcohol was and everyone except for Emma got something. Someone had to get everyone home.
Pretty soon Ruby and Robin slipped away and it was just Emma and Killian left. After another hour, Killian was drunk, which was not planned. Emma got up to get her phone from her jacket, and ran into Killian who was, of course coming back from the kitchen's mini bar.
"Swan! I have to tell you something very important," he slurred.
"What is it?" Emma asked.
"I like you and I want to be your boyfriend." He then went up to her and kissed her. Beer and rum flavored the kiss. He started to move to her neck, but she pushed him off.
"Killian, this isn't right. You're drunk. Tell me this tomorrow and we can start from the beginning." Emma ran to get her phone and when she came back, she saw him kissing Katherine. Emma ran out of the house and went home. She collapsed on her bed and let the tears fall. She was home alone, so no one could help comfort her.
Back at the party, Ruby and Robin were still sober. No one planned to get drunk tonight. They all wanted to see Killian and Emma get together, but when they saw Emma run out of Regina's house, something was wrong. They ran around trying to find Killian, and when they did, they saw the same sight Emma did.
"What the bloody hell are you doing, mate?" Robin yelled.
Killian broke the kiss. "Kissing Emma." He was really drunk. He actually thought that Katherine was Emma.
"That's not Emma," Ruby said.
Killian took a closer look at the blonde in front of him, and they were right. He wasn't kissing Emma. He took off downstairs and went to her house. He didn't even know she was there, but his gut told him to go there. It was like waking up from a dream. Somehow he sobered up a bit when he found out that Katherine wasn't Emma. He pounded his fist on the door. Emma went downstairs and opened the door, hoping that it was Ruby, but the guy who broke her heart was on her porch.
"Swan, I am so sorry. I thought that you were the one who I was kissing," he explained.
"No. No. I don't believe you. I want to, but I don't. Everything you told me tonight and told Robin over the last few days were nothing but lies. This is what I get for bringing my walls down for someone," Emma said, shaking her head and with tears still falling.
"No, everything I said to Robin and to you was true. He told me about your walls, I didn't know you brought them down for me. This must have been all apart of a plan Regina made. What Katherine told me made me think that it was you. She said that she will give me a chance. I thought it was you so I kissed her." Killian fell to his knees. "Please forgive me. She said that she wanted to go out and she pretended to be you. You are the only girl that I have had my eye on, Swan." Emma stared at him. He had tears building in his eyes as well. She didn't know what to do or say. "Emma. Please," he begged.
"No. Talk to me tomorrow." Emma said and shut the door in his face. She slid down the door and had her head buried in between her knees. It was for the best. He was drunk, and he had to remember. She went upstairs to her room and locked herself in. She laid down on the bed and cried her eyes out. She didn't know when she fell asleep, but somewhere in the night she did.
Killian went home and took a shower. The water was burning his skin, but he didn't care. After standing in the shower for an hour, he decided to actually clean himself off and go to bed. Sleep came surprising and oddly quick. He knew that he was being a drunk asshole, but it didn't matter. He had to be forgiven. Even if it meant that he didn't have her, her forgiveness was what he wanted most.
On Monday before school, Killian walked over to Emma's house with his apology speech ready. He knocked on the door and she opened it. When she saw him, her eyes widened. She was about to close the door, but his voice made her hesitate.
"Swan, please. I know you are mad, just please hear what I have to say first."
Emma grabbed her bag which was on the ground next to the door and stepped outside. "Walk and talk," she said with anger in her voice.
"I'm sorry. I was drunk and desperate. What I said was- is true. You are the only girl I have my eyes on. Nobody else grabs my attention like you do. I like you Emma. A lot actually. I remember everything from last night. When that bitch walked up to me and pretended to be you, my brain showed me what I wanted to see. You. I was an idiot. Everything that I have done was for you. Even signing up for football. Well there was also a part of me that wanted to do that, but I thought that if I signed up, you would give me a chance. Please. I don't care if we stay friends forever, just know I am truly sorry."
"You think that I would only notice you if you were a jock? Killian, I have liked you since I saw you! No matter what you would have done, I would have liked you for being you." Emma let out a sigh.
"Y-you like me too?" He stuttered.
"Yes." By now they are at the school and the bell for first period rang. "I guess I'll talk to you later."
Killian ran off to his first class, but wasn't worried if he was late. Neither of the two could concentrate in their classes. What would happen if he did ask her out now? And most importantly, what would she say?
