It had been a few days since we had gotten to Dauntless

Training was still hard and once we were over, we did nothing more than head back to our dorm-that's how exhausted we all were

I walked along side Jocelyn and Addam as we headed to the gym to meet the others

Us three had gotten closer

I learned that Jocelyn was actually kind of relieved to be away from her strict father and never actually felt the need to be totally honest although she was Candor. Instead, she wanted to be able to do what she wants

Addam on the other hand really missed his family and talked about them a lot

He had two younger brothers and a baby sister named Lacy

He said that they all looked like him

Dark hair and eyes, with a smile that could make anyone cheer up

We got to the gym and saw that training had already started

Once we closed the door behind us, Eric-alone that day- turned around to look at us with a not-so-pleased look on his face

"Do you think this is school? You can't skip class here, initiates" he said, coming to where we were

"Why are you late?" he asked, looking directly at Addam

"We, um-"

His eyes went to Jocelyn, lingering on her face- making her bite her lip in embarrassment

She finally looked down as he raised an eyebrow and finally turned to look at me

"So?" he asked me, since neither Addam or Jocelyn were planning on speaking up

I looked at both of them and the way they were embarrassed

I chuckled and said "We were talking. Got distracted, we are late."

"So you would rather chat with each other, than train like you're supposed to."

"It won't happen again" Jocelyn quickly said

"It better not." he stated, looking at me for some seconds and then turning his back at us, walking to the ring

"Since this clearly is boring for our friends over there, today we will do something different. Running."

At the sound of that, a wide grin made its way onto my face

"Alright, everybody. I want the two Abnegation kids, Jocelyn, Abbey, Addam, and Amity," he said quickly, in a bored tone

"Which one?" Lisa asked

"The blondie,"

I rolled my eyes and walked to where the others were

"I have a name" I said in annoyance

"Do you, now?" he mocked my voice

I bit my lip to stop myself from saying something that would get me in trouble and waited for the 'start'

"Ready..and, go"

Once the word escaped Eric's mouth, everything stopped for a second

The only thing that mattered was the race

Me reaching the finish line first

Hell, it wasn't even about winning-it was about the feeling running always gave me, Freedom

Being able to run was my escape from reality, from Amity, and the world around me

I passed Dave that was ahead of me, then Josh
