8. First Day

I woke up before everybody else-surprising for me- I always was late 

I put my hair down, feeling the pain of having your hair in a ponytail for two days in a row

With a grimace, I brushed it and took a shower

I changed into some clothes and said good morning to Josh when he woke up

I put my hair up once again and when everybody else was ready, we headed to the cafeteria together

It seemed like everybody had gotten up early since the place was really crowded

We sat down and ate our breakfast, talked about how different our lives were in our old factions-that's when Four decided to come sit with us

"Don't you think it's time for you to stop talking about your old factions? You're in Dauntless now," he stated

Addam rolled his eyes, but then sighed

 "He's right.We are here. Might as well act like we are Dauntless."

The rest of us agreed and the conversation went on about how nice the food was there until we were told to follow Four in the gym

He showed us around and then we headed at a rooftop to practice our shooting

Since it was my first time ever seeing a gun, I was pretty excited to try shooting

But well-I was awful at it

The first time, I shot really far from the target, making Lisa next to me laugh

I rolled my eyes with a side smile and tried again

This time it hit the target on the shoulder

I smiled victoriously until I turned my head around to see Jocelyn smiling

She had hit the target on the head more than three times

"Have you been training or something?" I asked, raising an eyebrow

She nodded, shyly

"My dad wanted me to be able to protect myself and my family if something happened"

"That's strange," Cris mumbled and turned to look at her "If I even touched a gun, my dad would have made me do a public apology for not actually needing guns to survive or something like that," he said with a chuckle

She just shrugged and continued shooting

"Nice shot"

We all turned to see Eric standing some feet away from us, next to Four

"Thank you," she said with a laugh

I had never come across a natural redhead before

Her hair was shiny, freckles were visible on her whole face and her eyes were a beautiful shade of green

Eric smirked for a second and then turned his attention elsewhere

"Really now, Jocelyn? Eric?" Addam whispered loud enough for her to hear

She rolled her eyes and blushed slightly, making me crack up 

That made all the attention fall on me

"Care to tell us all the reason why you are laughing like a kid, Amity?" Eric asked

I bit my bottom lip, to stop myself from bursting out laughing and turned my back at him, practicing my shooting

After some tries, I could aim pretty well for a person that had never actually held a gun before

I followed the rest of the people in the gym and started chatting with Dave and Josh until Four instructed us to divide into pairs

I chose Lisa 

"I am going to show you some basic moves of self-defense. Then I want you to actually try and follow my actions. Understood?" he asked loudly, walking around

"Yes." we all said in unison

"Alright," he stated and then his eyes fell on me

"Saraphine, would you mind helping me out a bit?" he asked

I bit my lip and nodded, walking to where he was standing

"I want you to punch me straight in the face," he stated

I chuckled but nodded

With slow movements, I extended my right arm, my fist clenched, aiming for his right eye

Before my fist could make contact, He grabbed my arm, twisting it, making me turn around

I wasn't actually in pain since his grip wasn't that strong but he still made sure I was okay

"Are you okay?" he asked 

I nodded and returned back to my fighting stance

"I can't feel my body," Abbey complained as we got in our dorm

"Me neither, " Lisa agreed

I just side smiled and sat on my bed, enjoying the comfort of it, even though it wasn't even that comfortable at all

I took off my shoes and threw them to the side as I fell on my bed with a loud groan

"So... Jocelyn," Abbey started with a cheeky grin

We all knew where that conversation was heading

"No. Abbey, I just said thank you to him." Jocelyn spat, knowing exactly what Abbey would say

"That and the color on your cheeks. Many shades darker than your hair, I must inform you."

"Can you just stop? He is a leader."

"So you do like him?" I asked, feeling a smirk make its way onto my face as I turned to look at her

"I mean, he is good looking, but-"

"She's so in love with him, " Lisa joked, making us all crack up

"And you talk like a five-year-old. But seriously. You can't deny that he is hot." Jocelyn said looking at me

"I mean yeah, I guess he is kinda good looking," I mumbled

"He is," she confirmed, looking at Abbey

"I don't know. Scary isn't my thing," she said with a laugh as the boys joined in

"I don't know what girls like. You are really strange" Addam said

The whole night went on about how strange girls are
