11. Lisa

I opened my eyes to the sound of a door opening 

I blinked a few times before looking around

I was still in the room and Lisa was still asleep

It was morning, probably around ten

"You should be training" 

Eric rested his body on the wall next to the door

"I am not going anywhere until she's awake" I stated

"The nurse said she needs time to rest. You should let her rest. Leave her,"

"You know what?" I asked, anger rising within me in a matter of seconds

I stood up and walked in front of him

"If you had stopped the fight back then, she wouldn't even be here, right now. So I think you should be the one leaving." 

"You sound like a pathetic Abnegation girl. She will survive," he said, rolling his eyes

"What kind of person are you?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows in anger and confusion

"Listen to me, princess. Dauntless is about getting hit, about falling and about getting back up. If you can't keep up with it, you should've just stayed home-"

"But instead I chose Dauntless" I snapped, cutting him off

"Why did you?" he asked

I opened my mouth to speak, but closed it again

Why was I not answering right away?

"Because I want to be free. Dauntless is the faction that makes me feel like I finally know who I am." I said, looking down and then back up at him

"If you want to be Dauntless, you should act like one"

I rolled my eyes "Act like a Dauntless or act like you? There is a difference, you know"

"No, Amity. There isn't"

"Not every Dauntless member is a sadist." I informed

"Better be a sadist than a masochist, don't you think?" he asked looking down at me

"There are plenty more options to choose from" 

"Maybe for you there are." he said

The sound of Lisa moving made him take a step back

"I expect to see you at the gym in an hour." he stated and opened the door, getting out

"What was that?" Lisa asked

"Eric came to check up on you." I stated

"Yeah, right." she said with a laugh

"How are you feeling?" I asked, sitting on the chair, squeezing her hand 

"Good. Really."

"What you did was reckless."

"I know. I just wanted to do it. To see if I could survive."

I rolled my eyes

"Just don't freaking do that again. You almost gave me a heart attack" I stated

She laughed "You should go."

I sighed "Are you sure you'll be alright?"

She nodded with a smile

I stood up and got out of the room, heading to the gym
