10. Surrender

"Today things are getting real." Eric stated, walking around

We were gathered up at the gym

Four and Eric had said that, that day we were going to actually fight

"So, who is tough enough for this?" He asked

"Anyone?"

No answer

"Alright then. Dave and Josh in the fighting ring." he said

They got in

"Fight till the other surrenders." Four said

They threw a few harmless hits at the start, but when Eric stopped them, they knew it was happening

"Stop fighting like children and hit each other," he shouted, crossing his arms

Josh threw a punch and Dave blocked it, throwing him down

This continued until Josh got annoyed at his brother for no apparent reason and ran to him

"Stop acting like you're better than me," he said

And that started it all

They started hitting each other and finally fell on the floor

"Alright, alright- that's enough,, " Four said, rolling his eyes and dragging Josh out motioning for Dave to follow them

Abbey started laughing, cause yes- it was funny watching two brothers fight each other like little kids

"You think this is funny, initiate?" Eric asked, glaring at her direction

She looked do but cracked up a little

"In the ring," he said 

Abbey obeyed and waited for Eric to choose her opponent

He walked in front of me with a smirk

Great...

"Lisa," he said not taking his eyes off me

"Let's not destroy that pretty face of yours just yet, Amity," he said so only I could hear

I decided to not say anything or show any emotion to the guy in front of me

Lisa got in the ring

"I don't want to see the moves from the previous fight. I want clean hits. If you don't fight each other, I personally will make sure to make your lives a living hell." he said

Lisa's eyes widened

"Start,"

"Scared?" Abbey asked in a joking tone

Lisa just glared at her

Suddenly, Lisa took a step forward, trying to kick her from the side, but failed

Then Abbey kicked her on her knee, making her lose her balance

Thankfully, she regained it

She blocked some punches, and hit Abbey on the neck, making her back off

But quickly, Abbey punched her in the face, making her fall down

"Bitch" Abbey mumbled touching the spot on her neck that Lisa had hit

Abbey definitely wasn't my most favorite person in the world at that moment

"Come on Lisa!" I encouraged her to keep fighting

That made Eric glare in my direction

"Wanna go in there and help her?" he asked 

"I am giving her hope," I said and took my eyes off him to see that Lisa had actually stood up and had gotten back to her fighting stance

"Just give up already," Abbey growled, rolling her eyes

Lisa shook her head and threw another punch

Abbey blocked it and quickly punched her in the face

Her nose was bleeding by then

"Surrender,thew" Abbey said with wide eyes

Lisa turned her head to look at me

I mouthed Surrender but she ignored me and continued

After some more hits Abbey looked at Eric

"She's done."

"Did she surrender?" he asked

"But she is-"

"Did.she.surrender?"

Abbey shook her head threwone last punch that made Lisa fall on the ground

"What's going on here?"

We all turned around to see Four

He looked at Lisa laying on the floor, bloody- and then back at Eric

"What the hell are you doing?" he asked Eric as he went in front of him

"They were fighting." Eric simply said with a shrug of his shoulders

I took the chance to go in the ring and help

"Get your hands off her." I said to Abbey when I had Lisa's hand securely around my shoulder and she tried to help me 

"Saraphine, you can't be serious-"

"Get your hands off her," I said again

"Fine" she mumbled and left the ring, passing Eric and Four that were starting to argue loudly

"They are sixteen-year-old kids." Four said

"In Dauntless-"

"This is not the way to teach them how to fight. Not yet at least. I don't think you know how to be their instructor"

Eric angrily glared at him

"Careful, Four. Remember who you are talking to."

Four gave him a cold stare and helped me get Lisa to the nursery

"She didn't give up." I stated as we got out

"Idiotic if you ask me."

"She's Dauntless. Selfish, brave, reckless" I said

He sighed and said "You should go back to training"

I shook my head

"I am not leaving her. You can go."

He nodded and left
