31. Cade

(A/N: Warning, this chapter is going to be 'bitter sweet'. We are going to have some side story and I hope it doesn't have many mistakes cause I'm in a rush to publish the chapter. So, I think you will either love or hate this chapter, haha)

One week later

I walked down the hall, ignoring the whispers that left people's mouths as I passed them

I still couldn't figure out why it had become a big deal to everyone

Yes, I was an Amity transfer, but I was Dauntless

But everybody was surprised that somebody from Amity actually made it to the top

"This is stupid" a girl whispered as I walked past her

"She probably threw herself at one of the leaders just to get the position. Maybe Eric. Have you seen the way he's always looking at her?" another girl whispered to her friends

I felt anger built up inside of me as I turned to their direction and watched her bite her lip from embarrassment

"She heard you, you idiot" her friend said

I rolled my eyes and decided to just let it go

As I was making a turn, I saw Lisa, Dave, Jocelyn, Abbey and Cris

I was about to go up to the and talk to them since they hadn't seen me yet, but the words that came out of Abbey's mouth made me stop and literally hide behind the wall- as stupid as it sounds

"I don't like it when they talk like that about her" Abbey said

"I don't either but...Don't you guys think she has...I don't know, changed?" That must have been Cris

"Changed how?" Lisa

"She used to be...kinder I guess. I don't know"

"Kind?" Dave laughed

"Saraphine was never 'just kind'."

"I just meant-"

"Are you still hurt that she didn't like you back?" That was Jocelyn

"Of course not, how do you even know that? Did she tell you?"

"Of course not, she didn't tell me. You were drooling every time she spoke to you"

"Shup up"

"Guys" Lisa said

"Saraphine had always been a lion inside a girl's body."

"Since when did you become a literature expert?" Dave asked

"I read a book yesterday and it inspired me," she said with a laugh

The group passed without seeing me, heading to the Pit

I breathed out and realized a Dauntless was looking at me with questioning eyes

I put on a hard face and raised an eyebrow

"What?"

He raised his hands up in defense and turned his back to me, walking away

Her words stayed on my mind for the rest of the day I spend following Joyce around Dauntless

She's a lion inside a girl's body

"Are you even listening to what I'm saying?" Joyce asked as we kept walking

"Why are we even doing 'the tour'? I have been here for a long time. I know the place"

"We are doing this to show the people the new leader. So at least try to appear happy"

"I am happy" I stated
