19. Afraid

"You have to push yourself" he stated as I tightened my ponytail for the tenth time 

I rolled my eyes

"What do you think I am doing, Eric?" I asked

"Why do you have to be so stubborn?" He asked with a groan, running a hand through his hair

"Punch me," he stated

I raised an eyebrow

"It's not like you'll be able to actually hit me. I'll block it." 

I sighed and tried to punch him

He easily blocked it

"Your point?" I asked

"You have to be both strong and quick."

"I-"

"You have to work harder"

"I am working-"

"Not hard enough, Amity. You're just complaining all the time. Dauntless don't complain" he said

I opened my mouth to speak, but no words came out

I am not Dauntless

I will never be 100% Dauntless

I can't be

"Hit me again."

I felt really annoyed by then

I aimed for his right shoulder, putting more force to it than usual

He seemed surprised, but still easily grabbed my wrist and didn't let go

"Do I make you angry, princess?" he asked with a smirk

I rolled my eyes and took a step back

"What's with all the names? Having trouble remembering my name?" I asked

He just chuckled

"Believe me sweetheart, you're not easy to forget." he stated blocking another one of my punches

I rolled my eyes and threw another 'hard' punch 

That time he grabbed me and turned me around, holding my wrists crossed in front of me

My back collided with his chest and he laughed

"Okay, will you let go now?" I asked, feeling his breath hit the back of my neck

"It seems like I have to make you angry to see some progress, Amity" he said 

"You don't want to see me angry, Eric." I stated, trying to take a step forward, but he didn't let me

"I am so scared, Saraphine" he whispered in my ear

I raised my eyebrow even though he couldn't see me

"Did you just-" I turned my body so now we were facing each other

"Did you call me by my name?" I asked with  a smirk

"What if I did?" he asked 

"Why are you afraid of opening up to people?" I suddenly asked

He seemed taken aback by the sudden question, dropping his arms to his sides and moving back

"Me? Afraid?" He asked, raising an eyebrow

"It's the only explanation" 

He shook his head to himself and looked at me

"You're dismissed."

"Oh, come on-" 

"There is nothing to tell, Amity," he stated and started walking towards the door

I rolled my eyes and followed him outside
