11 hours to go

"I wouldn't be thinking of taking you to my place if I had a girlfriend," I flirted with the girl in denim hot pants using Aman's line. It was his trademark one liner.

Her lips curl up in the corner as she absorbed my words. "You certainly cut right to the chase," she said.

I shrugged. "I just know what I want, and I've been looking at her for the past twenty minutes."

"Don't you know I have a boyfriend?" she joked.

I rolled my eyes and walked away in utter disappointment.

20 minutes of my life wasted.

Mohit was the best boyfriend ever. It was very thoughtful of him to throw a party a day before Rutt was leaving for US. Rutt looked extremely happy. Any girl would be happy to be with a guy like him. He, with his boy next door looks, was the perfect guy you could take home to meet your parents. I was an exception though. I had my heart set on Aman, the so called bad boy of the group, who ignored me and never cared about my feelings. But I couldn't do anything about it. I was helpless. I was in love.

Love is sometimes very strange. We want someone we know we can't have. Maybe we like to be broken. Maybe that's the reason why we chase after the unattainable. It's easy to love someone who will never love you back because it's all in your head. I imagined all these scenarios in my head. I planned out our life together, pretending that maybe someday he'll realize that I was the one after all.

Aman talking to Alisha at the bar has caught my attention. Why is he even here? He always hated such parties. Who was I kidding? I knew pretty well why he was here. Anyone sane can look at him and tell he's been eyeing Alisha ever since he joined the party. It was no shocker Alisha piqued his interest. Every hot girl did. And Alisha was the acme of hotness. She was the reminder of why human body is the best work of art.

"Want some?" A familiar voice echoed in my ears and pulled me out of my depressing thought. I could see a tall figure of Dinesh standing next to me, munching his hotdog.

"No, thanks," I said. "I'm watching my weight."

"I'm watching my height. My doctor doesn't want me to get any taller." Dinesh smirked but I ignored his weird sense of humour.

"It was supposed to be good party."

Well, what does that mean?

"I thought there will be single girls here," he went on looking around, smiling.

Wait. Am I invisible to him too?

I was still upset about Aman ignoring me and his inclination towards Alisha. On top of that Dinesh's creepy smile was making me sick.

I ignored him and turned him deaf ears but he went on and on. I didn't care for his moving lips.

"You know you can do so much better than Aman." He said after a while.

"Hey, it just occurred to me...you are single. I am single. May be we could..." he stopped as soon as he realized I was not even listening.

"You okay?" he asked, patting my shoulder.

"I will be....if you leave me alone." I snapped at him.

He looked at me in surprise. "Alright," he said and walked away.

Rutt, who was standing near to me, looked at the dejected-looking Dinesh leaving.

"That was so rude!"
